Depends on the car he is in really, he is a class driver despite what people think of him as a person, he has been dragging the McLaren far higher up the placings than it deserves before it has fallen apart around him.

Just looking at previous winners

Alex Rossi! (Yep he of Marussia)
JPM
Kanaan
Franchiti
Wheldon

Not a stellar range of names if I'm honest.

It wont be easy, but Alonso is, I think, better equipped mentally, physically and hungrier to do well and a good shout for the win.

He's a top driver but what is the main skill in indy car? Armchair expert of course, but changing direction, braking hard, accelerating mid turn just enough is aplenty in F1. Indy car seems to be more about driving as high a speed as possible without binning it or ploughing into an unfortunate backmarker.

If he can stay out of trouble I don't think a top 5 finish is out of the question to be honest. It would be brilliant if he did manage the win though.

Lazy F1 centred mentality is lazy, shocker.
