How many miles before R888s work well. Fitted a new set and was like driving on ice for first mile or so. After 10 miles they feel reasonably good, are they at their best now or will they get better after a few more miles ?

They just need the mould-release agent to be scrubbed off, which takes a few miles / laps. It's worth putting a proper heat cycle into them at this point then letting them cool. After that, they're fine.

Much like brake pads, if you bed them in properly you'll get the best life out of them.

My R888 took about 40-50 mile to start digging in and after 300-400 they were lovely

steve,

when I stick new tyres on I just find a quiet private spot and spin up the rears for a few seconds while riding the brake, then swap front to rear and repeat. all done in 10 minutes.

I have started a wet race at Oulton on brand new Yokohamas complete with stickers this season, got a great start, was thoroughly on the pace and didn't give 'em a second thought.

Doubt Toyos are any different.

I put a new set of R888r's on my e30 320 the other weekend, 4 or 5 steady laps of Cadwell and then another 15 minutes at 90% seamed to be OK after that
