If that doesn't tell you F1 is broken and dying on its arse I have no idea what will. I watched the race in full, I wish i'd just watched the highlights.
Brutal. Utterly fking awful. Not one overtake after the first lap, thats embarrassing.
theyd be as well turning it into a hill climb
It's a desperate circuit (which it has no excuse for being so as it's new). But the bit that really irritates me is the extra aero this year. I heard some expert arguments that it wouldn't hinder close following as a higher percentage comes from underbody, but that's not immune to turbulent air so the arguments sounded weak....I suspect some of the experts are towing the party line and others can't zoom out from the fine detail to judge the bigger picture (I'm an engineer and I know I can fall into this trap).Brutal. Not surprised at all we have this situation developing and I'm going to try and enjoy a tactical season as it certainly won't be a season full of wheel to wheel battles.

Lewis of old who would sulk and later explain how the felt somehow disrespected.
Forever worrying about disrespect is typical of the likes of Hamilton. His driving ability is noted yet he is not warmly embraced merely acknowledged & I bet that hurts. Endless differing hairstyles & facial fur, diamond studs, little dogs on leads, moodiness when he doesn't win, lots of interviews about his life-style & imagined musical abilities & ambitions still don't get him respect from those outside his own sphere. I think you might need to check the calendar, its 2017, not 2011.The first couple of corners decided the race unfortunately. Mind you, however that went for whatever the sequence was.
Today I was at a race meeting and cars were lined up side by side. It looked so strange.
That messed everything up at the end of the first laps of each race and cars that were faster but blocked or inconvenienced in the first couple of corners had to make their way through the field.
Why don't the cars in F1 line up side by side? It would not have made Sochi any better, but that's due to the nature of the circuit, but it might enliven others.
The only downside would be that the sparsity of competitors would be more noticeable.

2x2 staggered grid was settled on for safety, the gap gives you a chance of avoiding a car that stalls or is slow away, the car "next" to you will be slightly offset, thus has a chance of avoiding you should you decide to jink to their side.WJNB said:

All the drivers have their character traits
Hamilton does tend to have a dual personality - he is sweetness and light when winning, but really isn't above the surly blame game when he isn't.
Vettel is quite funny and reasonably charming....and then when it goes wrong totally loses his st! Which is still funny....
Raikonen has a paddy at the team - is told he hasn't understood it right, and then sort of goes 'oh yeah.....'
Then you have Bottas, who when he gets a shouty chief engineer on the radio congratulating him on his first win says...'ha, fk me'

Yup, right up there with the worst F1 race I've watched. Were their any overtakes for position after the first lap? It was rare to see any gaps between drivers of less than 1 second. Poor circuit and car concept.Brutal. Utterly fking awful. Not one overtake after the first lap, thats embarrassing.

I still am not certain Bottas is a great driver, but only time will tell. He still hasn't beaten Lewis in a straight fight.
well, he was at the same circuit in the same car. How is that not a straight fight?Don't get me wrong, I'd give my left nut to be able to pedal a car as well as he can and sit in one of the top 2 cars in the field this year (hell - you can have both my nuts for that!), however I'm not quick to lump him in the same categories as other great drivers.
People seemed to think Verstappen was the second coming when he won the race last year in Spain. Again, I think he has it in him, but other than exciting overtaking, he's hardly setting the world on fire now is he.

The massive start line accident that triggered the safety car at Imola in 1994 was on a two by two grid.
I can't think of any F1 accident where someone was killed in a coming together on a 2/3/2/3 type grid.
I think Derek has a point.
I don't think Hamilton is getting on with this car as well as his previous ones, maybe it's thw tyres?
Unfortunately for him Ferrari are better equipped, with their Number 1 driver philosophy, to win such tight Championship battles.
On the evidence so far Vettel will walk it this year.

I don't know whether Hami had an issue, however I can safely say he wasn't on his usual form yesterday. That's what I mean by being in a straight fight. Let's see them go wheel to wheel (fingers crossed they'll be allowed to!) and then see what the outcome is.

Verstappen? He's beating his team mate who is widely viewed as excellent. His drive in China was outstanding. So two great drivers, and he is outpacing his more experienced team mate.Don't get me wrong, I'd give my left nut to be able to pedal a car as well as he can and sit in one of the top 2 cars in the field this year (hell - you can have both my nuts for that!), however I'm not quick to lump him in the same categories as other great drivers.

Equal? Both drivers had issues. If you talk to engineers they will tell you that most cars develop some form of issue during a race that impact the performance to a greater of lesser extent and can be driven around. They are about as equal as they could ever be. Hamilton couldn't get the right balance in quali (his words), and Bottas could. Bottas was just complete this weekend, Hamilton wasn't quite.

Great for watching on a hangover as I fell asleep after about 5 laps and woke up with about 5 laps to go, so got to see the best bits and clearly missed nothing in between.
exactly its always the same P2 will try and have a ago 5 laps before the end when there is enough fuel to do so then surprise there isn't enough laps to complete the battle
gay off fuel saving gayness st
but yeah great for that nap
