Manor F1 auction.

Glancing through that you can get a real idea of the terrifying costs of running an F1 team.
The compressors and generators are all £thousands.
Surely some bargains to be had there but I can't think what I'd use any of it for!
To be fair the cost of a few generators is the thin end of the wedge. I think there is an awful lot of equipment that isn't on sale - maybe offered to other teams first ? Or there will be another sale later ?The compressors and generators are all £thousands.

i gave up looking after 40+pages....accidentally clicked on the auction info...
VAT @ 20% plus buyers premium @ 15% = VAT and no doubt stiffed on the delivery
Yep, you can add 38% to any winning bid.. I think there are some F1 fans that will have a bit of a shock if they win..VAT @ 20% plus buyers premium @ 15% = VAT and no doubt stiffed on the delivery

Delivery? These things are buyers collects... with a limited window for collection.
There is a link to a shipping company on the site who will ship your item to you. Not cheap of course...rev-erend said:
So as all the bits are being auctioned that presumably means that no single buyer bought 'Manor' as Ron D was reported to be interested.
What happens to the F1 enter position.
Is that also for sale or does ownership revert to the F1 owners.
If the company is wound up I think it goes back to the FIA, concorde agreement doesn't exist as the company has been wound up, so you'd have to start from scratch pretty much. What happens to the F1 enter position.

Manor already surrendered it. It was owned by the Manor TopCo (which didn't go bust), but became invalid in IIRC the event of their missing 3 races and in any case not paying for an entry.Crafty_ said:

I spotted that as well, I'm factoring it in to the bids I'm looking at placing but I fear an awful lot of people aren't - either that or they're valuing things far higher than I am - 2 weeks of the auction left to go as well of course!skwdenyer said:

If I wasn't after buying quite a bit of tools and IT equipment for work I'd have bailed on wheels and nuts, I've won. Seriously 110 notes for four nuts and 400 odd for wheels ea expensive coffee tables.
The viewing day seemed to have a lot of retail buyers / fans looking for memorabilia. It is noticeable how the really specialist bits of kits haven't appeared, either a single trade buyer or a further auction later in the year I suspect. I suppose its possible those bits are asset financed so will be disposed by the finance house(s).

Huh? 400 for a manor wheel? I've seen a lew hamilton merc wheel from a championship season for only a bit more than that.If I wasn't after buying quite a bit of tools and IT equipment for work I'd have bailed on wheels and nuts, I've won. Basically yes once the 38% fee with vat is added.. didn't expect the price to be run up that high but ho hum £290ish before fees becomes 400... at least the other three I won where slightly more reasonable.
Plenty of other stuff is now effectively selling for higher than new e.g.
http://manorf1auction.com/m/lot-details/index/cata...
Currently £50 + 15% + 20% = £69
NEW from RS
http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/ir-thermometers/0411...
= £71.66 + free delivery.

Yep, I really don't understand this - it happened with the previous Marussia auction too. I get that people could become a bit carried away on the memorabilia side of things, but for stuff like that?Plenty of other stuff is now effectively selling for higher than new e.g.

38% buyers premium ?!?!?!
Holy st!
Regarding the specialist stuff, in the first instance I would have put it in to bundles and touted it round potential buys rather than just auctioning it.
My old man's former colleague did Simtek, Caterham and TWR. The firms are generally experienced and will know where to look to get best value.
For things like used components its going to be on line auctions for excitable fans

Manor had a lot less specialist kit than you might imagine, it was very much an outsourcing outfit.Holy st!

A fair few bidders didn't understand how industrial auctions work either. Lots trying the classic eBay sniping method with 10 seconds to go, only for five minutes to be added to the auction time... hairyben said:

I got 6 BBS rims for £129.95 each including VAT and Buyers Fee, not completely terrible.Edited by AndrewEH1 on Thursday 18th May 09:45

a few things, mainly wheels, wheel nuts and manifolds
I bought the full aero model shop last time, for peanuts compared to what they are wanting for th emodels this year
I bought some wheels too. Have any spare nuts potentially?I bought the full aero model shop last time, for peanuts compared to what they are wanting for th emodels this year
It seems that a lot of the Manor pit and paddock equipment, motorhomes and support truck were bought by Paul Stoddart to support the F1experiences two-seaters that he's running at GPs now.

Also http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/129664... suggests it was to have been auctioned, but he obviously made them an attractive enough offer.
