Hamilton outqualified by Button. That would have delivered well at the bookies!

Mercedes are going to have to have a very close look at Hamilton's tub. Something must be wrong. Perculiar handling.

Did you watch it? He was circulating for most of the session. His handling was just all over the shop.

Might be a blessing in disguise Hamilton not making it through I counted two drivers moaning about him blocking their fast laps so possibility he would've got a penalty for that?

You think he was doing that on purpose?
The car had screwy handling.

But the Ferraris are much better on their tyres. And the Red Bulls and the Toro Rossos. I'm not expecting a Hamilton podium from 14th on the grid.

Problem is... Everyone will be doing a long first stint... He's going to have to wait until a SC to pit

Nightmare for Lewis, that car looks even worse than it did in Bahrain and the yellow just compounded the misery, he would have (just about) made Q3 with that lap.

I can't help but think Mercedes are fine when it all goes to plan, but if it doesn't they struggle to get it together.

If Kimi gets pole, I wonder what Ferrari will do...

Good effort by Grosjean, Vandoorne, Sainz.

Vandoorne like Ocon was maybe half an inch too far right at the barrier.

Given the F1 rules, he may yet have a penalty on top.

Heard them talking about pitting early and going long whilst others do a proper 1 stop.

Precisely my point. He was trying too hard. He didn't need a lap record, he just needed a solid 9/10ths lap to get him into the top ten.

In other news, is the McLaren chassiss actually okay? Seem to be better when they don't have go fast in a straight line!
