I wonder if Ferrari hadn't have had to replace the wing early on, if the race would have been closer and so wouldn't have looked quite so much like a stroll in the park for Hamilton?
I'm sure they could easily have replaced a cracked tub, but detecting the problem often isn't just a matter of looking at the thing and seeing a big hole in the chassis. With carbon fibre lay-ups, the crack might be internal, or even not a physical crack, but bad stresses built into one of the various layers which cause it to warp oddly and unpredictably under specific loads.
Either way, here's to a close season!

I think under the circumstances a "Cheko, if you don't get out of the way you will not be in the car in Baku" may have done the trick.
cue Carlos Slim Junior 'then you can remove our stickers from the car and kiss goodbye to the £10m we pay you every year'
Anyway, as a RACING team, the response would be "go find a team that wants your £10m sticker in return for screwing up a potential podium for our other sponsors".
Hardball meets hardball. Gotta be the employer in that situation. A number of other rich journeymen out there would like to have an opportunity to get into / return to f1 seats.
Anyhoo, is he truly in such a strong position? Who is going to take the Checko shilling next - well somewhere Checko himself would want to be? Fezza? Merc? Red Bull? Haas... McLaren - that went well last time
Nobody is bigger than the team, especially a journeyman pay driver.

I deleted my response because you need to look after your brother, not deal with crap on Pistonheads. I will say, though, that it's 'Checo' Anyway, as a RACING team, the response would be "go find a team that wants your £10m sticker in return for screwing up a potential podium for our other sponsors".

The team clearly were not trying to force it. They said after the race they didn't want to force it as they would have lost time reversing the drivers twice. As it was they both got caught and passed anyway, but if not they would have faced comments about them wasting a position or two by reversing the drivers. I'd generally agree they should have swapped, but to me Ocon was too far behind for Checo to slow down without losing a lot of time. It was similar to the time when Rosberg was saying Hamilton should let him past, yet was far too far back for it to make sense.Anyway, as a RACING team, the response would be "go find a team that wants your £10m sticker in return for screwing up a potential podium for our other sponsors".

Mercedes said their simulation/ prediction (I think for the whole race?) was a difference between them and Ferrari of 0.0 seconds - so yes, it would have been much closer, NRS said:

Sorry but no; Ocon was all over the back of Perez in DRS range and with a beautiful double slipstream for about 15 laps solid, Rosberg was IIRC much further behind Hamilton when he was on the radio asking to be let past- I remember thinking at the time that Hamilton would've had to have made a very long lift whereas a breath off the throttle from Perez would've seen Ocon breeze through.
