There's only one thing that I'll remember from this race, the fk up of the basics of fitting driver protection on the car that cost Mercedes the victory.

That was inexcusable. Even Haas wouldn't do this as newcomers.

Quite, they just can't get their brakes working consistently after 1.5 seasons, plus huge input from Ferrari...

So you don't remember vettel running into Lewis despite 10 or so pages discussing the fact?

S0 What said:
he did NOT tell the team anything, he ASKED if Bottas should be backed up
And due to the way he seems to be able to do no right in the eyes of some F1 fans, if he hadn't asked it would likely be a sign that he's never thinking about the bigger picture. A thinking driver would have asked if his teammate could come into play etc.
It was a smart question - he wanted to know if Bottas could be brought into play for dirty air, the team said no, he was after Stroll.

No issue that I see.

Another very assured drive from Bottas.

I'm not sure that wouldn't be a case of bringing the sport into disrepute....

Its only an issue if you have an agenda and as you didn't slag of Hamilton you must be a fanboy .
It was a bonkers race marred by some petulant fool . Riccardo was brilliant as was Bottas and Stroll was just fantastic and so close to second.
The sight of a grown man lying to camera when millions had just witnessed his actions did not do the Sport much good.
The booing will start if Hamilton and Vettel get on the podium followed by even more booing at the British GP.
Whatever happened to gentleman racers ?

I think the FIA set the precedent when it released this statement after vettels conduct in Mexico last year for which he received 2 points on his licence for dangerous driving

"The FIA takes this opportunity to advise that, in the event of any future incident similar to the one that occurred in Mexico, disciplinary action will be taken by bringing such incident before the FIA International Tribunal to be judged."

Died with the ability to place multiple cameras around a circuits and playback quickly to a mass audience.

I don't think what we saw is new.; the "gentleman racers" are probably a rose tinted view of times past, fondly but misremembered.

For instance, the drivers that in an era of low safety - drove past very recently crashed cars (in some cases on fire) and did not stop to help (though some drivers did)

The stewards bottled it big time.

Every other form of racing in the world, Vettel would have been black flagged and disqualified.

Vettel perfects the art of 'F1 diving', similar to taking a dive in a footie match; he even did the equivalent of the 'what, me?' shrug to the crowd afterwards.... rolleyes

it was a bit of a tongue in cheek comment. I hate the way that Sport in general is being butchered by money.
I do wonder if pressure is being put on the Governing bodies due to the huge sums of money invested in F1 and of course Ferrari's get out of jail free card seems to have a lifetime subscription.

I'm disappointed Hamilton didn't do a Schumacher:

That would have been entertaining.

Rather see them both put in a cage with Conor McGregor and get the sh** kicked out of them both.

Now that would be worth paying to see.

It's interesting if that Vettel hadn't been a bellend, he probably would have won the race.
