I was thinking along the same lines recently. I think that one day in the future having Jos around will be very costly for young Max.
If they are smart they will get someone like Nico or Mika to be his manager; a voice of wise stability....

Family rarely works.

Interesting from Pirelli (partial extract from Autosport article)

"As always, Pirelli has had to define tyres that will cope with predicted levels of downforce at both the start and end of 2018. Development is unlikely to be as dramatic as it was this year, the first season of the new rules, but it will still be significant.

"We've received simulations from the teams," confirms Isola. "It's expected that at the beginning of the season next year's cars will probably be one second quicker than the current cars, so you have a step. And during the season the average rate of development is between 1-1.5s per lap, to give you an idea of normal development."

So another 2.5 secs quicker by end of next season.

That would mean ~1:34 quali laps at Abu Dhabi (maybe even faster with the hypersoft tyre), vs ~1:40s in the early 2010s and start of hybrid era.

Seems that many sources are reporting Kubica to Williams is a done deal , contracts signed

I think Riccardo will go to Ferrari next year, if Vettel doesnt like it he can go elsewhere, they wont bow to drivers they have showed that before.
I can't think of any time recently they've been ruthless with a driver - certainly a team leading one.

Schumacher's mind was made up for him by the team!

Sauber annouce they are partnering with Alfa Romeo next year. They will be Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team.

I suppose that means the cars front suspension will start to fail and the cars will be a little bit rusty by the time they get to Abu Dhabi.

surprisingly drivers not announced at this time as id expected them to be part of the deal.

I doubt there is much, if any steel or iron in the cars to rust these days but there are certainly a lot of electrics to go haywire!

Good news for Sauber, less so for other teams with the wider package being available - more like the Force India deal (a Merc underneath + FI aero)?

Strengthens Ferrari's negotiating position for 2021+

Good stability for the Swiss team, who have some great people and kit - and who have been very loyal.

The other seems to be between Ericsson and Giovanazzi. Gio's stock was riding pretty high but then two accidents in two races at the beginning of the season has lowered that. Leclerc's however is still flying high and the rumour is if he does well at Sauber he could be in for the second Ferrari seat.

I've nothing in particular against Ericsson but if Wehrlein, Kvyat and Massa all go and Marcus stays I will have to roll my eyes and sigh a sigh of disappointment.

Marcus is sponsored by the company that bought Peter Sauber out, Longbow I think they are. It was he that introduced them apparently and they were also responsible for kicking Kaltenborn out too. It depends on how close Longbow and Marcus are I guess but I believe Ferrari and Marchionne have been pushing for Giovanazzi and Leclerc.

LeClerc and Ericsson confirmed for Sauber. Silly season has been pretty rapid this year.

Decent article by Benson on BBC about Kubica and how he didn't exactly set the track alight at the tests. Don't have it linked here but worth a read.
