Sebastian Vettel

Good result for Seb, nice to see him smiling. Can't read an awful lot into it though, with Monaco being what it is in terms of overtaking, etc.
Indeed, but to be fair to Seb, he had good pace all weekend and qualified well. The team then gave him a good strategy, which he executed to a good finish.Hopefully it'll boost his confidence a bit and he'll keep showing progress.
People are happy with Vettel being middle of the pack. If he was challenging Hamilton there would be plenty of knives, that's for sure.
To be fair though Vettel at his worst was when he was winning (the finger, "multi21", etc). It is possible that he has grown up and matured since then, and that if he started winning again we'd see the current affable, "true sports fan", sticking up for others Vettel - but we just don't know. It would be nice if he was further up the field though.
I do think that he is given a bit of an overly bad rap though, especially compared to Hamilton. Hamilton has done the occasional thing that is questionable, but he's British so that's ok.

Ohhh. Now you've done it. You'll have the mob after you with that sort of inflammatory comment Ok I'll admit it was a bit inflammatory.
I do think it's true though that people are happy to pat Vettel on the head while he's no threat to Hamilton. If he was in Max's shoes I think people would be revelling (more) in his mistakes and being more critical.

Out of curiosity, what occasional thing are you referring to?
Australia 2008?I'm not saying he's got a chequered history or anything like that. Certainly Vettel has many more dodgy incidents.

The fact that you've had to go back 13 years to find some dirt on Hamilton actually makes the opposite point.
There is very little.
That is a fair point, I will concede that it has been few and far between. There is very little.

As a racer I found his season of run-ins with Massa (2011) interesting though not a controversy.

True. A couple, but no more and subjective as to materiality:

I think that article backs up that 2008 in Australia was the only real low-point for him, and it was clear as day at the time that he was horribly uncomfortable with the whole situation.https://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/17744615/the-...

2011 was interesting, he was going through some relationship difficulties with his girlfriend and seemed to get involved in a lot of collisions.

Vettel beat Hamilton at the weekend, all I see is goodwill towards him? It’s as though you believe that Hamilton is a universally popular driver. In my opinion he is the most nit picked driver.
