Team needs to get its act together. Poor pit stop, fuel miscalculation - Lawrence is going to be pissed.
To be fair, they couldn't have known he'd be in second and fighting for the lead. It was also going to be ~15 wet laps (lower fuel burn) and most races in Hungary are an endless procession. Although granted everyone else managed!
From the BBC...
It is believed team principal Otmar Szafnauer and technical director Andrew Green said there was 1.44 litres left in the car, but they were unable to extract it.
Ummm.... with a second place result on the line surely you turn the car upside down if you need to, where was this remaining 1,1 litres likely to be hiding which they were unable to remove?! 1.1l is a lot to "lose" in a fuel system.

Even his Red Bull days I never much liked Vettel the competitor, Vettel the Man however is a class act. Feel sorry for him today, the good news is that his Italian slump appears a long distant memory & his form is on the up. Looking forward to seeing what else he can do over the remander of the season.

Until appeal is dismissed maybe?I'm confused...
Still a good day for seb though! He already has 'on paper' results and titles, he doesn't need the stat from today. What it did demonstrate was that he can put in an inspirational drive still - which is what matters for him, and now the AM brand.
All in all, a very good day at the office.

I like Seb but let's not overlook the fact that Verstappen, Bottas, Pérez, Leclerc and Norris had all been 'cleared out' to quote Rosberg. RichB said:

The Aston is probably the 5th or 6th best car out there - depending on track configuration - so if he can grab the odd podium here and there when the opportunity presents itself, it is a job well done for Vettel and the team.
Monza should suit them as it is similar to Baku. Not sure about Spa as the long sweeping corners require alot of peak downforce and the Aston does not have that.

I'm not sure having a crap start is good.
Finishing 2nd on the road is good. Many ways to throw away opportunities with driving mistakes, ask his team mate.
For me the outstanding drives were Ocon and Alonso plus LH coming from the back.
Gutting for Seb that thy messed up the fuel load

But all the cars that got taken out would’ve been ahead of Ocon and Alonso? They didn’t make their own luck, Bottas et al made it for them?
That's a fair point. Vettel felt he was faster than the Alpines, but didnt get close to passing Ocon, is it just a case of faster but not by enough?
Vettel was faster and I was actually torn as to who I wanted to win. Vettel had a good go at Ocon on his out-lap but seemed unlucky with backmarkers. Once it all settled down he wasn’t ‘quicker enough’. The commentators said that you need to be two seconds a lap quicker to have a chance at passing on this circuit.
I think that considering Vettel was not compliant on fuel, we should be glad that Ocon got to celebrate his maiden win on the top step and we didn’t have to deal with a winner being disqualified.
Neither driver were going to win on pure pace in a normal race but both drivers and teams had to make a number of pressurised decisions through the initial safety car period and the restart situation on the inters. It was amazing to see only Hamilton take the standing restart and give what was surely a certain win away. Amazingly all the other drivers called that situation correctly. A bizarre set of circumstances in the race!
ETA: was certainly a stand-out performance by both Alpine drivers. Ocon had to absorb that pressure from Vettel throughout and I didn’t see him put a foot wrong. He maybe out-braked himself into turn 1 once?
