I'm a LH fan but I want a different winner. It'd tiring seeing the same old and the sport needs change but Max needs to do it properly. He ruined what would have been a great spectacle for me.

He didn't need to win. He just needs to keep his nose clean and in the last race do what he can do. Not stupid moves that no one will love.

I agree. Hopefully Lewis will stop driving into Max and we can enjoy the last race wink

Max's performance yesterday was a disgrace. Hamilton is in a totally different league, and given what he had to deal with yesterday did an amazing job to win the race.

I think it's very likely Max will try to have Lewis off on Sunday.

While Max is a lightweight compared to Senna, Jones etc he's at least providing an interesting championship battle.

Otherwise Mercedes would've cake walked it by September hehe

If Max had the ability to race cleanly, he would be at least no worse on points than he is now.

His reckless aggression hasn't done him any good.

Good news! You can now vote for Max to receive the BBC's World Sport Star award, which runs alongside SPotY:

No doubting that.

But a tough battle is good for box office and keeps the frothers frothing.

Are driving standards discussed within the GPDA? Would they ever be likely to go public on the driving standards of an F1 driver?

The really odd thing with this is that only yesterday the BBC were inviting us to vote for who we thought the cleaner driver was - Lewis, or Max.

As you might expect, Lewis was ahead 85 - 15%. Also yesterday, Max was voted driver of the day.

There seems to be a yawning gap between sporting and popularity, but I am surprised that Max is being offered as a choice by the Beeb.

Surely driver of the day has to be Ocon?

Maybe they though the word 'dirty' started the title?

Seen it all before has talent but you can tell mentally he’s not prepared for pressure and his team are only making it worse. He’s basically cracking as he sees the championship disappearing. Taking unnecessary risks, walking out of the celebrations. You can see it in his face he’s folding

He would probably have been my choice. So unlucky not to get a podium. frown

It is really interesting to go back to the first post in this thread and see the discussion around max today is much the same.

Which tells you everything: he hasn't changed, other than being in a competitive car with a chance of the championship.

I wonder if you were to look at the opportunities he's squandered this year through over aggression; could he have had the championship wrapped up by now? Maybe that is part of why he is panicking now....

He hasn't changed much though has he. As I've said many times in his "meteoric rise" he dodged learning his craft, that stupid and really quite narcissistic "me first or we crash" trademark move would and should have been knocked out of him in f2/3, in a trail of broken carbon.

He does have supreme speed and certainly a winners arrogance, but I think the ship has sailed on ever being a complete racing driver.

I have noticed a change in demeanor in how he talks to the media, the old offers of a jolly heat-butt etc have been replaced with what feels like a lot of suppression. I find myself wondering how big the blow will be.

Oh, he has the ability.

He has proved time and time again that he is amongst the very best at braking late and still making the corner.

But lately, has just chosen not to.

I hope he gains more maturity for the last race, drives hard but holds onto apexes and backs out when the racing line is lost. Lewis has 'less' to lose and is giving a great demonstration of driving hard, using all the rope but not quite going over the edge.

Its been a good year in many ways, lets hope someone sits him down and puts it straight that a championship won by driving like that will always be stained.

Hoping for a fair and epic last race.

Not sure we will get it though.

Same here but i agree with your last comment, i think the inner 12 yr olds will take over and decide it all.
