Wow, hard crowd in here. So f3 guys aren’t racers. Is it not one of the top and most competitive grids in motorsport? VLN, Le Mans? What do we call real racing now?
Horner was a competent racer but not a good enough one to succeed at the top level. He realised that and sensibly decided to change his approach to team management instead. Others have also done this in F1, notably Ecclesone, Mosely, Williams, and Tyrell.

Look, there are racing drivers and there are racing drivers ….. there are entrants, participants, competitors and winners… Horner was somewhere between participant and competitor for a while, he won a few races in F3 class B in the mid 90s when things were a LOT different…..then nothing in the Championship class but still got a budget to the next level and was promptly blown away in F3000 by Montoya, Heidfeld et al.

I appreciate that without entrants and participants, the whole sport dies on its arse within a year and maybe I’m being pedantic but I could win the lottery, enter F3 next year and I still wouldn’t have the gaul to call myself a racing driver….

Same with musicians, I know a few people who had moderate success in touring bands, tv appearances etc but now make far more money and have more success as producers

Horner showed his true colours in 2021 when Mercedes launched the crazy side pod car, his first comment was to launch a protest until the car turned out to be st and he quietly dropped talk of a protest and engaged smug mode. But he had the public tantrum first. I don’t class him as a racer really either, he was found out in F3 but still got a F3000 drive because he had a budget but didn’t trouble the podium on a single occasion.
All team bosses play that game of putting in protests to protect their teams, defend their drivers. Ron Dennis was just as smug and hearing Ronspeak was just as infuriating as hearing Horner whine.

Nigel Roebuck classified Frank Williams and Ron Dennis as racers and I would agree with him. 'Racer' isn't necessarily about ability nor mentality...

Very eloquently stated. I have never any inclination towards any violent act, but Horner's "I'm-not-like-you-I'm-not-a-schoolkid-anymore" 6th former smugness makes me want to smack him in the kisser!

Thanks for your attention. Now I've got that out of my system I feel quite refreshed...AUM smile

This thread has moved on from Verstappen to 'I hate Horner the most' contest. However, we should feel sorry for the chap. If you go to https://firstsportz.com/f1-news-panicky-christian-... I think everyone can get to know him as a person and understand that his attitude might be down to problems specific to RB.

Come on, guys, show a bit of consideration.

Yeh, I'm sure Horner's life must be hell.

Very tongue in cheek Derek. Excellent!

All teams have the same cost cap. It just adds further indicators that RBR were actually well over the cost cap.......

Max can’t contain his aggression in virtual racing, surprisingly.

Max in the white car, other guy in the red.

Wow that's the kind of petty racecraft you expect from a newbie in rookies not a soon to be 3 time world champion lol.

I so want to see Mercedes and in particular Hamilton, be right up there with him and challenging him, I guarantee he will be back to his old ways.

First bit seems a bit of an innocent cockup on the brakes or at worst a slightly clumsy block pass. Not sure he is at fault for the rest of it.
Is it definitely Max driving? It has the driver as Jos Ver on the screen. No idea if Jos does sim racing or if Max races under his dads name for some reason?

This has to be some kind of setup/spoof, surely?

Jos sim races as well. Could be him though I don't know.

Don't know what happened before/during this race either, all we see is a very short clip covering the last few corners of a race and after the race ended, a Verstappen rear ends up (and yes the race did end at this point, see the chequered). Not saying it's right.

I've seen Max race on iracing plenty also under the Jos account, even against him and it's always been professional so...why now?

No idea of the context of this at all. Max is normally pretty level headed on iRacing despite regularly getting sent by people who want to beat him.

Having gone through several of Pablo's clips now he seems to make a real habit of either crashing into people himself, or putting others in a position to cause a crash (even after he already lost the position himself)...and then absolve himself of all blame.

Given how clean Max tends to race online from what we've seen...I'm going to assume there's quite a bit more at play here than Pablo is showing.

But then that wouldn't sell clips would it...
