Id love it if max could challenge the front running mercs. In reality cant see it happening for most of the remaining season.

Lewis is too quick in the quickest car
Lewis is not too quick but he has a 63 point lead and yes he normally is in the quickest car.

He's too quick and has consistency and can develop a car.

That's what makes a champion.

The only reason Max has started winning is that he has the fastest car. It's getting boring already. Put him in a mid-team and he'd be struggling to win much at all....

EXACTLY!!!

All the years people have been claiming hamilton only wins because he has the best car, we’ll now it’s Max’s turn...I mean people have to be fair when analysing these things right? You’ve got to apply the same rules when being critical about drivers performances.

Joking aside, I think Max is now just edging Hamilton as the best driver out there. The interesting part will come after the summer break when we all know Lewis traditionally starts to ramp it up and turn the screw.

Cut Deltonas some slack; he’s a Max fanboy and fellow countryman. If Lewis wins it’s only because of the car, if Max wins; it’s not the car. Nice and simple fanboy logic at play; nothing to see here!

I thought the Dutch were into volleyball and hockey...

hehe

In any case; epic race and I thought Lewis and Max were both in a league of their own today.

Let's face it, Max and Lewis are driving beautifully.

The whole field is very high quality.

(sorry if that doesn't fit with forum tribalism)

You don't become an f1 driver for many seasons* unless you're in about the top 40 of all drivers in the world.

  • using many to rule out the likes of pay drivers like Chilton and Stroll...
That for me is one of the main attractions to f1 - it attracts the highest calibre of racing driver bar none. Although FE and WEC are doing pretty well but still no comparison. Hence the mantra; if you're good enough for f1, you're good enough for anything.

I don't see Stroll as a pay driver. I don't see any pay drivers in F1. He is no Alonso or Hamilton, but he is a capable driver with moments of excellence. He is well backed by a sponsor/dad but so are many other drivers.

Pay drivers are those that only get their seat through money and then their lack of talent sees them languishing at the back or crash...

Even Moldanado had his qualities.

Max on today's race:

"You now saw how much harder they can drive when it really matters. I think Lewis had a very good day today too, but if he really need to go for it, you'll see that that car is still the dominant car. It's that simple, That was because, according to Verstappen, no strange circumstances were involved this time. In some races it is not necessary for them to give everything. In Austria they had problems with overheating and in Hockenheim there were also difficult circumstances. Then they cannot easily find the limits of the car. Today Hamilton had to and then you can see what that team is capable of."

Shouldn't you both be in bed by now ?

Does seem difficult for some to deal with the fact that Lewis's performances might not just be only down to his talent of galactic proportions but could just as well be down to having a better car.
