Can’t see Max at Ferrari or Mercedes. Something doesn’t fit; he seems to carry with him, some baggage. Never know though.
His father, not a nice person https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos_Verstappen#Contr...Edited by babelfish on Wednesday 8th January 04:06

Makes him very well paid (2nd to Vettel in base pay).

Although this morning a much different amount has been mentioned for Max, so I guess we will have to wait for the dust to settle.

Lewis Hamilton current contract is £40 millions a year (certainly not a low driver pay base).
Sebastien Vettel current contract is between £30-35 millions a year.

It's no picnic being Verstappen. He's taken the Dutch supermarket to court over his image.
He, I've read, stars in an advert for Jumbo, another Dutch supermarket. This, I assume, was justification for Picnic and the suggestion that it was meant to be a parody. Obviously, there's something lost in translation.

Picnic, an online supermarket and competitor to one of Max’ main sponsors Jumbo used a Verstappen look-a-like in a promo that was being broadcast 2 years ago. Verstappen sued them for breach of portrait-right. A lower court agreed with the claim and guilty Picnic was convicted to payment of 150,000 Euro. A higher court however overruled the conviction in June 2020, liberating picnic of any guilt and fines.

He’s obviously been tied in close with Jumbo for some time and makes great point to reference to them quite often, regardless of their branding on his team ware. He, I've read, stars in an advert for Jumbo, another Dutch supermarket. I predict he will never win a championship
Better for the sport if he keeps away from a Mercedes seat. And Mercedes themselves are not served by too much competition either. Bottas is a good enough 2nd driver to score the necessary points, plus he's cheaper.

If Mercedes replaced Lewis with Lando they would still walk the championship.
Loved or loathed: Why Max Verstappen is the cream of Formula 1's young crop in 2020
Verstappen, finishing in second place and splitting the two Mercs, drove the wheels off his car to make himself relevant in an otherwise dreadful outcome.

Can you imagine the noise in the Lewis Hamilton thread if he threw a Twitter tantrum and unfollowed his own team over some news development
Lewis performs well because he is in the correct mental zone. If he had an elite team mate who applied constant pressure on him we would see a much more erratic and error prone Lewis Hamilton.Just my humble opinion.

As has been pointed out Max was rattled by DRic on a good day... we haven’t seen that for a few years now, he has a comfort zone but we’re yet to see him with a team mate pushing him all the way. Lewis will moan but Max is far more hot headed.
