Should be there again this Sunday, for a total cost of around £50 (petrol for the bike +food) as my mate gets free passes from some Marshalls. Hopefully will have a grandstand ticket again, but will have to see where I end up!

Alonso is starting another weekend knowing he will have a grid penalty for engine component changes. There is a suggestion that the team will load him up with all new kit here in readiness for the next race in Hungary, where he should have a much better chance of a good result.

from that, sounds like a mish mash

They put the old unit back in at Austria after Friday practice. Now hes going back to the spec 3 unit but with the older MGU-H that ran from final practice (which I assume means from there through quali and the race).

Getting a new energy store as well.

Its all a bit omnishambles from Honda.

Lewis not doing himself any favours in the popularity steaks, Live F1 show in London yesterday he was the only driver not to attend, Vettel & Rosburg got a warm reception when introduced apparently crowd jeered a few times when Hamiltons absence was mentioned,so live crowd there & TV audience who are going to Silverstone will remember that, & anyone who reads the reports, we know how fickle the Brit. public can be.

How to shoot yourself in the foot when previously stating love for his home crowd & coming home to race bla bla bla, well organisation for this event was done many months ago not like Ham. was taken by surprise was it.

he will be fine. He is the Silverstone fans favourite, rightly so, and they will cheer him to the rooftops

Wasn't he at the ESPYs yesterday? You'd have thought Mercedes would have used the opportunity to say thanks for your support for LH, he's not here but he's in LA winning an ESPY for best driver.

That's bizarre, why wouldn't they replace it? IMO they need to be punished harshly because it seems they deliberately would have run a car in unsafe condition

Oh dear rather be with the yanks than his home crowd, speaks volumes where his heart lays, which we have seen for a few years now & heard with his strange mid atlantic drawl developing and especially his pathetic use of the word 'frickin' when angry.

Some are saying its Marko punishing young Carlos, I know hes bit of a helmut but i don't think even he would put spectators and marshals at risk.

The only reason I can think of is if they didn't have a spare part and wanted to do what they could before a replacement arrived?

Made the journey to Silverstone from Ireland on an overnight ferry and train in 1973 with my Dad. Still remember the day 44 yrs ago.

Bizarre that STR refused to change it. I haven't seen a response from them yet.

Almost looks deliberately placed by torro rosso to attract attention to it, although I can't think why they would want to do that. If they really wanted to hide it then they surely could have hidden it in the carbon fibre fairing. The whole thing is bizarre.

Anyone go to the track today? Interested to hear people's thoughts on F2 and GP3 practice being moved to the Thursday, leaves a large gap on the Friday morning where there is only a 10 minute Renault parade between 10:30 and 13:00.

They won't be spending anything if they are queueing to get in. I hope there are enough security bods to make it work properly.

The security bods weren't too bothered today. Might be different from tomorrow.
