Really? What were you actually watching? You dozed off after half a dozen laps and woke up for the podium, didn't you?.... wink

Admittedly, it wasn't wall-to-wall action, but the last few pages of this thread clearly demonstrate that there was a whole lot going on, including some proper edge-of-seat stuff with Max & Seb

I'll conceded that some aspects were a bit "slow-burn" (ie Valtteri reeling in the Ferraris) but there was some decent action elsewhere (mostly involving Max or Danny)

We hardly saw anything of Lewis all day, but that doesn't matter a) because he won and b) there was plenty of action elsewhere
I enjoy a bit of 'slow burn'. I wouldn't want it all to be that way, but part of the thrill of the race was that it was obvious from early on that there could well be a close finish for the two remaining podium places. I was using https://f1.tfeed.net/ during the race and it was easy enough to work out - I could do it so very easy - who was going to be challenging whom later on.

I was probably one of the last viewers to wonder if Raikk would be able to give up his place to Vettel.

The best 'slow burn' was the 87 British GP with Mansell chasing Piquet. I took my stop watch to the race and from Mansell's tyre stop, the gap was engrossing. At first there was little change and then it began to reduce, but seemingly not fast enough. Those around me in the stands were making calculations on scraps of paper. First it was seen as possible but unlikely, then 'he might be within a second on the final lap, until we could see the gap closing without the stop watch. That slow burn took half the race.

Looked at logically that race should be classed as the most boring ever, with just two cars on the lead lap, but it was the most memorable one for me. And I was, at the time, a McLaren fan. I liked Piquet as well.

I wouldn't want every race to be the same of course. I want variation. Just like yesterday.

Those claiming it was a 'cracker' of a race would be the first on here if the exact race was run in abu dhabi or somewhere similar.

Sorry but stop trying to fool yourselves, it was one of the dullest races of the season. Mind you, that wouldn't have much to do with the actual track itself, but just so happened there wasn't any action on the day.
Those claiming it was boring weren't there.

Just watched it on tv and it wasn't as exciting.

But then again I knew the result of each battle.

Was a good race.

Fantastic race throughout. I don't know what some on here want. Name your 'best ever' F1 races? What was so good about them versus what we saw yesterday? I watch back old f1 races often, the races specifically picked out as 'classics', and very few of them are as exciting as what we saw yesterday.

For me, Max was on form. He managed to make his car as wide as possible whilst always being on the absolute limit of what's accetable; it's one of the things he's mastered, perhaps more than anybody. Vettel; in a faster car; simply could not get passed Max. Once again, Vettels skills in a dog fight can be brought into question; especially as he slipped and slided a tad under pressure. But Max was brilliant. Red Bull have perhaps my favourite driver pairing in many regards.

I note that Vettel has said he might commit to Ferrari, as long as he has Kimi as a teammate for another year. Now, this could be down to finding Kimi easy to work with; quite simply. But the cynic in me feels that he sees Kimi as a great second fiddle. Ironic given Kimi outperformed Vettel over the weekend. It's a strange do.
Thing is Ferrari will not win the constructors championship with that line up as the two merc guys will out score the ferrari 2.

Are you allowed to make the decesion before race control call it?
Yes, the information relayed over the radio is advise only, and doesn't cover every car that may be lapping another. It was made clear in the briefing Thursday evening that the FIA trust our judgment.
The only change during the weekend was that the FIA chose to take over the lights for blue flag on Sunday morning, in addition to the in car system. Mainly as in many cases the marshal operating the light panel is 2 to 300 yards from the panel, and can't see well enough to blue (their position being determined by being able too see their yellow sector. )
If you don't mind me asking how do you know who to flag, when I'm at a grand prix (or any race), if I can't see a big screen and/or hear radio, I struggle to know who's where once the pit stops start.
I can't comment for silverstone but there's a seperate channel for the blue flag marshal on post. There'll be a brief message given: car number and post to wave.

It's usually pretty easy as long as you pay attention to the running order but depending on what view you have of the track it helps to be told what's coming up.

Anybody who thinks F1 is a borefest should watch the Formula E races that was shown over the weekend from New York.

Shouting w***er at Vettel every lap ? I thought that sort of braindead idiocy had died out in F1 with Mansell's soaraway Sun reading army of bigots and migrated to some BTCC fans ?

He was taken ill earlier on, before the grid walk I think. I can't find any updates anywhere.
Sky announced after the race that he had suffered from a "stomach virus" and he was ok.

Many, myself included, were fearing it was a 2nd heart attack.

Thing is, it's easy for him at the moment he's not fighting for a championship. I'm a bit surprised someone hasn't decided if this guy keeps moving around in the braking zone I'll just run into the back of him, but the drivers around him all have one eye on the points table.
Was he moving around much in the braking zone yesterday? I don't remember that much?

It was an excellent race. Hamilton won and Fingers got a tyre blowout at the end.. would have been perfect if the whiner got a DNF.

That narrows it down to around 20 drivers on the grid, can you be more specific?

I don't think Max was moving around any more than he's allowed; so why would anyone run into the back of him??! Mind you; if anyone were to do such a thing; it would be Vettel.

I actually enjoy the slow burn races, give you something to think about, work out possable outcomes and positions ect ect but that requires thought, something the modern world is sadly lacking, it's all special effects and no storey line, that way you get to just sit there brain firmly disengaged saying wow all the time, F1 is not for the disengaged brain type obv, too much like hard work i guess ? stil each to thier own confused
Now, that's twice in one week i've totaly agreed with you Derek, too much for me, i need a rest for a week or so to recover laugh if you insist on keeping up this logical posting i may have to begin my medication again, it's just all to much for me beer
