It's finally been announced - an F1 demo around Trafalgar Sq / Whitehall on Wednesday evening (17:00)...

Anyone else going along?

Apologies for the Sun link but https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/3980966/formula-one... for more info

Event is today and it was announced yesterday!?

I'm in London today so am going to pop down but there is next to zero information online as to the route of the 'parade.' It just says Whitehall to Trafalagar Square and back. No info on where you might be able to view or not from. I guess play it by ear!

Given what has happened in London recently you can understand why they've done this. Not ideal for people who need to make accommodation, childcare, etc arrangements but this is the world we live in now.

Given that Whitehall is a road that leads to/from Trafalgar square, I'd say your options seem fairly obvious. The only question really is how far down it and that will be obvious from the barriered off section of road.

I'm hoping to pop down for 6pm ... but will I be too late for the actual cars? Not too bothered about post-car entertainment!

Just been down, very, very busy with school kids (clearly they must have been told). Glorious day outside. They have a few show cars and some technicians. I got one of them to go through the start procedure using the steering wheel which was quite interesting.

Was told the cars would be performing from 5:30 onward for a few laps, but i will guess it will not take them too long. The show cars are from 2014 and the Ferrari/Red Bull/Mercedes look spectacular, the Mcl Honda looks very dated. Did overhear that there is a selection of cars (1987 McHonda) that they will demo.

Hope this helps, sometimes living and working in London does have its peaks!

I work 2 mins away, I wandered down at lunch and other than Natalie Pinkham doing some interviews with kids, there's not a lot going on until after 5:30 tonight.

Heres some pictures from Twiiter so far:

Also for those who can't make it F1 will show the event Live on their Youtube channel from 6pm https://www.youtube.com/user/Formula1 and also Sky will be showing it Live on Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports F1 and Sky Sports Mix from 6pm.

Follow the F1 twitter feed for regular updates.

Looking good, shame I'm commited by work and cannot make it.

They did it in 2004.

This was when F1 was regarded as st, low attendance and tv audience when Schumi dominated in 2001-2002 and then F1 pulled its finger out to be more fan friendly not to mention new rules and points system for 2003.

Went to have a quick look as I'm out with work colleagues this eve so couldn't stay for the event. A sizeable crowd has assembled.

Lots of stalls with various sims and the like for kids/adults. Seemed a neat little event they're putting on. As for the cars on display, the TR, RB and the Ferrari looked best.

Obligatory camera phone truck pic:

Watching the YT feed.

Nice to hear a bigger cheer for the team chiefs than for the singer!

Horner gets an early dig in about Lewis not being there. laugh

I'll bet those V8s sound properly loud going between those buildings.
