Massive, straight into quali.

Obviously don't know the full story but can't help but feel some strong management would've pulled massa before FP3 and given Paul half a chance to get the car/himself set up.
If DiResta drives, then he's at a massive disadvantage. He's had almost no time in the car and it is set up for Massa.

And of course, all his haters will take the opportunity to say how crap he is when he doesn't perform.

Edit: 15 mins of FP3 still remaining and apparently they have taken Massa's seat out of his car, so perhaps they heard you. smile

Going to be a very busy weekend for him if he's also covering the Sky commentating with Martin still being sick! wink
Good point. I wonder who they will get in? Ant Davidson probably. I think it's him with Crofty right now.

They're changing the pedal box so looks like they're prepping the car for DiResta.

With only 10 mins left of FP3 he'll get very little time in the car, if any.

You can't run 2 different drivers in the same car in one practice session can you? Even if hypatheticay Massa was sick, say, 5 minutes in they couldn't swap Di Resta in for the rest of the session?

Didn't FP3 end at 11am?

Anyway Ferrari are looking untouchable round here today. What happened to The red bulls pace. I know Riciardo had his problems but max is off pace too. Hamilton can't get his tyres switched on. It's going to be an interesting qualifying.

Lol. You don't want to be doing that during qualifying for the risk of reading spoilers.

Cynical me wants to make a conspiracy out of that. Only saw the last 20 mins or so of fp3 though, when did massas illness come on?

Massa didn't feel well yesterday and after this morning's practice decided not to take any further part in this weekend, so Paul's in in his place having not raced in three years I think! Should make the race interesting.

It's certainly in at the deep end. Not raced in 3 years, never driven this car outside of a simulator, no time on circuit recently, and first go in the car will be during quali.

So, surely all they can do is fuel the car up and have him out there the whole 15 minute session for Q1, not going for a quali time but at least get 10 laps or so under his belt to familiarise himself with the car ready for the race.

Rather than doing the usual Q1 plan of 2/3 new tyre one lap runs that doesn't get him into q2 ( which, lets face it even Massa wasn't looking like doing anyway - the Williams doesn't seem to have any pace this weekend)

He'll do well to get within 107% just to start the race.

I'll be surprised if he can't get within 107% it's the commentating and racing that could be the problem!

I suspect that Di Resta will demonstrate, just how skilled / good, F1 drivers are even at the bottom end of the grid.

Only 2-hours before we know, it's a hell of a baptism.

At least he knows the track. Ted has just pointed out that DiResta won a DTM race at the Hungaroring only a few months ago.

Am i the only one amazed that a reserve driver has never driven the current car? Surely that's a bit lax, no doubt down to the stupid testing rules. But surely that's a bit of a safety problem in itself seeing as the FIA seem so safety obsessed.
