Whats with the unreliability of F1 weather forecast? All the forecasts said there would be loads of rain today, yet none! 😂😂

Also note they debuted the F2 car with Halo here at Monza, it doesn't offend me I must say.

A high definition camera mounted at eye level is going to make for superb viewing (and stewarding decisions no doubt!)

Forgive me, i dont follow the F1 rules closely but whats to stop someone who is tight on engines, taking a new engine every session for a weekend and having 3-4 extra engines available for the rest of the season?

They brought in a rule to prevent stockpiling after Merc did that last year. If you take more than the allowed number of elements of the PU at an event that causes penalties then you can only use the last of those elements at subsequent events.

With the rear wing as flat as it is on that Red Bull I cant imagine that DRS is going to have much of an effect (if any) here.

Meanwhile, Vettel has turned up in this:

Sadly, that scooter's impossibly naff. It falls into the so very British category of "trying too hard".

I found this picture this morning on a Sky commentator's twitter feed. That's how you do it.

^Agree, and that's nice. Seb does have a nicer classic collection.

This is from this year's Silverstone race:

It's Italy, he has to have a naff scooter, it's compulsory.

FP2:

Looking like Merc will walk this one. A Bottas v Hamilton fight for the win I think especially with no Red Bulls upfront to cause mayhem.

FP1 best sectors:

Ferrari missing a couple of tenths in S1 & 3 but losing a big chunk in S2. The Force Indias are the quickest cars in S1. Seems Bottas is missing some time in the second sector too.

Look at Vandoorne's second sector. Quicker than the FIs and as quick as the RBs. The speed ranges of the chicane and the Lesmos are where the McLaren is good at...

How are the cars looking track side anyone?
There's some astounding variation there. Can we read anything into the times with regards competitiveness? I'd expected Ferrari to be a lot closer than that. In point of fact, suggestions were it would be nip and tuck. Won't get the crowds if they are a second off the pace.

I don't think they'll be a second off as they have improved in FP2, but it was a different long run programme in FP2. Vettel focussed on the soft tyre, with Raikkonen doing the work on the super soft. Kimi's long run was very very messy, but there was one lap in the high 1m24s...which is close with the Merc drivers who both started off in the low 1m24s. It looks like Kimi's car is not fully sorted yet in terms of balance for the race. Vettel had a quick look at the super softs and moved on to the softs.

Hard to read the long runs on the softs which is the 2nd stint sim and easier to mask the pace in with differing fuel loads. Pace on the softs was comparable to Merc though. FP3 could yield more answers.

Wet qualifying would be fun. The Force India's look super fast in a straight line.

Thanks for that. It seems to be living up to its promise.

I am not one to belabour the point, especially when I've been spectacularly wrong, but I'd love to see a battle between the two RB drivers, you know, the one we've been robbed of all season.

I won't be watching it live unfortunately. Wife's birthday dinner.

We could be looking at a delay for FP3 and maybe even quali, weather at the circuit isn't good at the moment and the GP3 running is currently delayed

I know it does look very wet out there but are we at a stage now where Full Wets are becoming redundant? It seems at most wet races, the cars don't go out until they are just outside of conditions for Inters. and after a few laps they're straight in for Inters.

Track Report after safety car hammered around for a few laps: still raining hard.

Ok - good info thanks. hehe

( But won't do sales of Merc GTs any harm )
