Now applying for jobs at URA. Interesting place.
That could be interesting ..... they generally don't like outsiders in Government agencies, but they will put up with us when needed.

URA does have some seriously cool plans for the future here though!

An ex-colleague of mine used to work there. Absolute best practice in a lot of planning areas.

Really interesting.

I hate you all...

I forgot to book the work flights from Sydney and now its too expensive and I arrive on the Monday/Tuesday.

Stupid fking calendar not reminding me... Cheers John for the heads up today, I checked with work about the weekend flights and accommodation, they may have laughed when I asked.

Should have sorted it a month ago when I knew full well I would be there around this time but decided to extend my Sydney stay.

I'm traveling solo, any advice on where one can head to for decent nightlife?
<cough> Orchard Tower <cough>
There's a good Irish bar just at the side of Orchard Towers smile

Last time I was in Singapore was 2005 and used to frequent a club called Zuek, mainly because it was next door to my hotel smile

Clarke Quay has some good pubs.
Zouk - so you were staying in the Copthorn Riverside smile Zouk is now in Clarke Quay.

Fantastic Establishments such as Ipanema, Naughty Girl and Crazy Horse are obvious suggestions in Orchard Towers.

Rooftop bars - 1 Altitude (1 Raffles place), Lantern (80 Colliers Quay), Loof (opposite Raffles Hotel), New Asia bar (top of Swissotel Stamford)

Booze aint cheep here, look out for the happy hours / 2 for 1 deals etc.
Yes, I think it was called the Copthorne Grand Waterfront hotel at the time. It was a really nice hotel and handy for Zouk and the Mc Donaldson down the road at the World City shopping centre.

One time I did stay in the Hyatt on Scotty Road and it was great. Best breakfast I have ever had and the steak in the restaurant Mezza9, I think it was called, was brilliantsmile

I did visit a club called Top Ten in Orchard Towers on a few occasions smile

I also remember being in a Scottish bar in a shopping mall across from Orchard Towers and taking one of my mates there and him being rather unimpressed as it was rather geared towards Rangers fans smile

I'll need to get back to Singapore sometime...

Yup, Golden Arches still at Great World" City (I used to live between Copthorne and GWC)

Mezza9 is very good, also does one of the brutal Sunday brunches infamous in singapore (all you can eat 5star buffet plus drink your body weight in champers, 4 hour session for £80/ head)

You were here before the 2007 credit crunch, TOP 10, downsized to TOP 5!! And yes the Rangers bar you talk of is still there (a mate from Aberdoom drinks there ....). You missed out on Brix, the basement club of the Hilton next door to Hyatt .... it's an experience too

Hey, you dont announce a bargain like that and not tell us where!!!!!

OK - quick beer happy hour suggestions list.

- Clarke Quay - Bungee Bar - Pints $10 before 9pm (if you ask you can buy extra beers to be served after 9pm)
- Clarke Quay - Paulanna - 330ml beers for $8 'till 9pm
- Clarke Quay Merchants Court (other side of the river) - sliding scale, cheapest 11am - 3pm, shift change 3 - 6pm etc etc

- Boat Quay - Prince of Whales, BQ Bar and Dallas Bar, many different bucket beer promotions
- Boat Quay - all the dodgy chillicrab places - DO NOT ORDER FOOD, that $25/100g chili crab will turn out to be a 2.5kg monster) - lots of -
- cheep Jugs of beer options. (usually anchor, its wet and alcoholic ok!)

- Robertson Quay - Hannibals - $40 buckets of 5 bottles beer.
- Robertson Quay - Brussels Sprouts - Assorted 2 for one deals (different hours)
Hoegarden
Rule of thumb - $10 ++ a pint or $8++ a bottle is generally a good deal in a pub / bar / restaurant.

Hawker Centers / Local shophouses usually do tins / large bottles of Tiger / Heineken / Anchor for cheaper also.

After 9pm between BS and Hannibals... there is a bar selling for $5 a pint

Another one here, I'm currently in Kuala Lumpur and am heading to Tioman Island for a few days but will get into Singapore on Friday evening. I have the Fri-Sun roaming pass too.

I'm traveling solo, any advice on where one can head to for decent nightlife? I've been to a few rooftop bars in Kuala Lumpur but being stood there alone like a lemon wears thin after an hour or so despite the advances of high class good time girls.
I was in KL last week for the first time, and didn't exactly warm to the city. On one night after having to deal with business back in the UK, I walked up to the main bar strip in Bukit Bintang, to get a bite to eat and drink sometime around midnight, and there were very few places that the music was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think/still serving food. I found a bar/pub at the edge of the strip that was alright, but those backpacker type area's are not my thing these days. In the end I abused the lounge in my hotel as it had free booze, and had nice relaxing views over the city, and once again, free booze.

And I'm also in town this weekend for the race, going to some corporate thing tomorrow, which my liver already isn't happy about, but it has no say in the matter!
