Should be a good un... or Vettel may just sail off into the distance! Hope for a close fight.

Danny Ric seems pretty convinced they've got better race pace and looking at the FP2 times I wouldn't be too surprised. Seb is going to be clenching big time going into turn 1 with Danny and (particularly) Max behind him, sometimes gets a bit over ambitious that boy.
I'm sure Max will be relying on it. Could be interesting.

What's up with Sky and Ferrari? Nobody in red would talk to Ted.
They weren't talking to the C4 guys either. Webber was pointing to their tyres stacked up against a pitwall and got shooed off by a mechanic.

The way they were talking, he had agreed earlier in the day to be interviewed and when the time came he had changed his mind and wouldn't take part. Very odd smile

It appeared that Maurizio Arrivabene had agreed to an interview with EJ and it seemed it was pulled at the last minute, all very odd.

Regardless, it's pretty poor form, happens fairly regularly apparently too.

I think unless there is a lunge from max in the first corner Vettel will be 1.5seconds ahead by lap 2 or 3. He's going to try and conserve that gap, there's no point going further as there will most likely be a safety car, maybe 2 or 3 secs to allow for a tardy pit stop?

The red bull strategy is going to be fascinating. Riciardo has the temperament to play the waiting game and pull off something special when needed but max?

If I were Horner I'd be actively encouraging him to make a dice at the first corner evil they've nothing to lose! If he spits off Vettel they're guaranteed the win, the only risk being if that leaves just riciardo left in the lead and the Renault sts itself. I suppose if that happens it gives him high profile ammunition to go to the board justifying a new engine partner.

Lewis unfortunately is in real danger of getting caught up in an accident. It's a shame to say it but Mercedes really need to instruct Bottas to cover him in the first few corners. Defend from the rear and bring both cars home.

Kimi is a funny one. If he doesn't get 4th he really shouldn't be in the car. He theoretically should have the pace to undercut a red bull at the first stop but it all depends on which side of the bed he gets out of. Red Bull may come back with their race pace after the first stop?

All in all it comes back to what happens st the first corner. Today's the day when a strategist can really earn his keep.

Credit where it's due by the way, that lap from Vettel is his finest I can remember. He's not usually that type of driver and perhaps it shows by the times he hit the wall but with the Mercedes underperforming that single lap might (just might) win him the championship.

I seem to remember that you need to be about 1.5 seconds a lap faster than the car in front to have a good chance of keeping up and passing at Singapore which is why the race is often kinda rubbish and the competition is played out in strategy / pit lane only.

There are no questionable drivers up the front so I can't imagine anything dramatic happening into turn 1 among the front runners so I think that'll secure the finishing order save for reliability issues which are likely to hobble at least one of them.

I think we're going to see '09 to '13 Seb- don't forget how good he was at delivering the pole lap in qually and how good he was at scampering away on heavy fuel load in the early laps.

Bottas will be the ruination of somebody due to his tendency towards indecisiveness and braking early in turn 1.

Oh and the Mercedes looked horrible to drive didn't it, didn't seem to want to change direction. Long race for the Mercedes boys.

Really strange the way it was washing out mid turn confused Then (in practice) if they put too much bite into the front end the back came around too much, it just looked impossible to balance for this track - though not surprising for the team it would seem.

I do wonder with some of the huge bumps into the breaking zones there's a demand on certain types of suspension that can't be met. The McLaren looked horrid over them in particular.

My dread scenario is that Lewis gets alongside Kimi on the dirtier side, they enter turn 1 together and Kimi does Seb a huge favour and takes out Lewis. banghead

Both Lewis and Kimi are far too experienced and respectful of each other and the bigger picture, to take each other out.

I'm about 4 miles from the track and a nice thunderstorm is rolling through right now. So there probably be damp patches offline for the race as I doubt the sun will come out to dry it all away

I'd prefer fully wet rather than dry line but that might add interest anyway

Has there ever been a wet race at Singapore, I should imagine it would be a nightmare with it being in the dark with artificial lighting.
