Given that sort of lead the #8 car should have sailed off into the distance, but the #7 actually caught the #8 by the last pitstop of the 6h race, and then sat behind, based on team orders decided before the start (you race until the last pitstop then hold position).

Basically, of the two toyotas, the faster one is the one without Fernando.

The faster one on the day certainly. These things wax and wane in WEC.

The gap to the other P1 cars was disappointing considering the BoP the organisers had allegedly put in.

McLaren’s problems are IMO for the most part mechanical. I don't think they have a good handle on the tyres, especially in qualifying.

The MCL32 to this observer was so much easier to work with in this regard.
