They will probably be joining. The questions that remains are, as I understand it:

Cost to acquire RB assets (as they can't exit F1 without large penalties until 2021) and then RBs sponsorship level. They can live with a rebranded engine apparently.

The future engine spec and its affordability

Horner/Newey commitment

Well seeing as I have lost the ability to start a new thread, here is more food for thought and its kind of linked to this subject.

"Renault terminate contract with Red Bull from end of next season casting doubt on future of Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen"

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/formulaone/articl...

Sorry for the daily mail link, is any one else reporting this rumour?

If this is true, I would imagine Red Bull are selling up and leaving.

Typical Daily Wail headlines. Since most of the drivers are out of contract at the end of 2018 I have no doubt that Max and Daniel will have a drive in 2019.

Yeah I thought that as well especially this

"The news has not been made public yet, but can be revealed here ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix weekend."

Is the Daily Mail not in the public domain, who told them?

I was hoping there may be other evidence that is circulating, but it is probable the normal unfounded info the Mail is associated with!

It's not yet reported on any of the reputable news sites, and I hadn't even heard a whisper of a rumour of that one.

If it is true, then maybe Honda are buying them? One year in STR to develop the engine, then Honda take over the big team for 2019?

Adam Cooper is well connected.

I wonder if this will accelerate the Porsche move.

I think it's more likely that either Mclaren/Redbull (if not both) will team up with Cosworth & make their own engines.

He's quite an old school journalist and has form for breaking some stories (Button's move to McLaren, etc)

Didn't McLaren annnounce yesterday that they were moving to Renault from next season?

Not before the new regs. It costs too much, unless someone like Honda gifted them the IP and production capability.

Perhaps the poster means from 2021 onwards.

Yes they did, but I was talking about from 2021 as they'll need that long to develop an engine that will be competitive, so if the Honda engine continues to not work Redbull will only have to endure 1 season of pain with the Honda unit & then switch.

With Mclaren being in the position of being a customer team again which means no chance of a championship then the Cosworth link makes even more sense.

I agree & that's what I was referring to.

Did Christian Horner just blatantly say an announcement will be coming with Aston Martin?

He said definitely not Porsche anyway.

The Joe Saward column from earlier this month speculated that Red Bull (the drinks company) want to sell Red Bull Racing (the F1 team) and Horner is looking to buy it together with Aston Martin.
