Presumably, you mean Cristian Sylt? Bernie's official press officer.

Sylt pushing for Ecclestone's beatification.

Ecclestone was great for making money, mainly for himself but also for others. There are few who have bettered him at that. That's what he was after, and that's what he did. One of the most successful businessmen ever. But unjustified statements, such as "Ecclestone first took over the wheel of F1 40 years ago and transformed it from being an amateur hobby into a race series which had revenue of $1.8bn last year." need to be challenged. It seems to have gained acceptance. It just undermines what those working in the sport, rather than milking it, did in that time. It also ignores all the other factors which have made F1 more appealing.

A simpler statement that covers it is "Ecclestone turned F1 into a cash cow. Well done."

The amounts of money are staggering.

The amounts are particularly staggering in light of the amount the FIA originally sold the commercial rights for, and the period for which they were sold.
