Who's the team boss with the best racing pedigree? - I know Horner did F3000 and Wolff a bit of DTM or something but I don't know about any of the others.
I can remember waving the flags for the benefit of Mr Horner while marshalling at Brands in the nineties.

The other time I may have encountered him - and I really don't know if I'm dreaming this or not - is at a blood donor session in the City of London. My team used to visit the big banking houses, insurance firms and accountants, etc. and I seem to remember sticking a needle into a Mr Horner at this time. Did he ever work at this sort of organisation?

The problem with the manufacturers involved these days is that they'd never agree which car to use for something like this.
you could use all the manufacturer's & have 4 races, but still one make specific ...& maybe link it to manufacturer's 'home' races? so grid full of Honda's at Suzuka, Ferrari's at Monza, bit more tricky with Merc & Renault- maybe Austria & Spa
They get round this problem at the Race of champions by having a bespoke manufacturer with identical vehicles. Or thoe roly-poly pickups...

And of course that means he doesn’t win that championship!

You forgot one: Helmut Marko, 1971 LeMans winner, among other things. I imagine he would've had a successful racing career if he hadn't lost his left eye in a racing accident in 1972.

Had a brief look, didn't have the time to plot everything and analyse it, however I think he's doing very well for simply jumping in the car on short notice.

Was doing low 1m42s on the super softs, which compares well with Kvyat, but was missing a few tenths per lap on the ultra softs. His soft tyre run in this session looked good. Given the long run pace on the ultra softs, I think he would have done amazingly well if he's within half a second of Kvyat in quali, IMO.

Pretty standard for new drivers to take time to work the softer compounds (for the track) as well as an experienced driver. Reckon he'll be on the pace with more seat time.

Very good performance by Brendon so far, he has a lot to learn about the car and tyres, last time he sat in an F1 car was 2012 and they were effectively a completely different formula.

The other thing to bear in mind is he has hundreds of laps at the circuit in a car that is significantly slower, so he has to erase the limits he learned with the Porsche, which is no easy task.

I expect Kvyat will pip him in Qualy just because of the experience he has pushing the tyres to the limit, but his race pace looks on the money so far.
