I don’t think they hated each other, just an incredible lifelong rivalry.

From what I can gather, they had a healthy respect for each other since competing against each other from karting and got on ok until they entered the same team, then they grew to hate each other due to the intense rivalry as team mates.

After F1, it appears Nico has become a vlogger. hehe

Some interesting stuff among the fillers.

He's been posting about the last race weekend of 2016 and how it went for him, looking back.

This was a good one:

Lewis may of made mistakes, but the simple fact of the matter is lewis would of won the 2016 WDC if it wasn't for that one crucial engine failure in Malaysia.
If it weren't for oil leaks Jim Clark would have four titles rather than two. If it weren't for tyre failures Mansell would have two titles rather than one. If it wasn't for engine failure Massa would have a championship and Lewis would only have three....

F1 is absolutely littered with championship results that "would have been" if it weren't for an engine failure/suspension failure/oil leak/brakes/tyres/steering......

It's a mechanical sport; these things happen. Mechanical failure is as much a part of the sport as any human element that has a bearing on the results. There are no caveats in the record books.

I suspect that once Lewis retires they will find a new respect for each other; Senna and Prost were closer after Prost retired.

100% agree with this, should have added Senna still being alive to the list.

Yup. It's the "if my aunt had balls..." argument.

Agree completely. In motorsport, we all know that in order to finish first, first you have to finish. 'What ifs' are a factor in many other sports, too. What if Warne hadn't dropped Pietersen at the Oval in 05? What if Maradona's handball goal in 86 had been disallowed? What if Howard Webb had had the balls to send DeJong off in the 2010 World Cup final? etc etc

Freaking hell I've never seen his missus before (not in this much detail anyway for sure). For sure he must be tapping some fit bird on the side, hopefully. For sure?

Thanks for that. I must say his life looks generally to be messing around in Monaco with lots of money, with the odd trip to the tech sector looking for some startups to drop some of his millions into. I'm sure it's a great life to live, but it doesn't necessarily make good television, for a whole year of life it seemed a pretty empty 20mins. Liked the bit at the end where the woman didn't know who he was. hehe

Not really. I'm sure a documentary on most drivers a year after they've retired would be equally sparse. The best bits for me were his answers about his F1 career.

He's trying to stay relevant. So he's starting making unwanted and unnecessary comments. He'll descend into Jacques Villeneuve eventually. Which I look forward to ...
Wow, that's an epic pit to be in! Even Mika Salo's latest opinion on other Finnish drivers and what they should eat for breakfast carries less weight than whoever is on JV's latest list of people who aren't actually as good as people think they are in his eyes.

My personal favorite JV moment was when he criticised Lance Stroll for only having an opportunity because of his dad.
