That’s because it was apart from the fatalities

I'm not sure I agree. Depends which "era" you refer to. The high fatalities era was also high unreliability, huge gaps from front to back and lots of cheating + true pay drivers. wink

Well, I've had a while to think about this ane here is what I think the end positions will be:

1. Vettel
2. Hamilton
3. Bottas
4. Ricardo
5. Verstapen
6. Raikonen
7. Alonso
8. Ocon

Constructors

1. Mercedes
2. Ferrari
3. Red Bull

Vettel / Ferrari led Hamilton / Mercedes for most of the season and good fortune and a big dollop of luck helped Hamilton to the title. For 2018 - Ferrari will 100% back Vettel over Raikonen but Mercedes will wait until one of their drivers shows a clear lead, very gentlemanly but it will untimatly them championship.

2018 will be the McLaren comeback year .. with Alonso at last fighting for top 10 ~ 6th place at least on the slower circuits.

Got a feeling Ferrari had their best chance last year, when they scuppered both Merc's & Red Bulls suspension at the last minute. Also 2018 car will have had zero James Allison input, unlike the Merc ...which will be his first for them.

Red Bull also had a very strong finish last year

So I'm going for...

Hamilton
Bottas
Vestappen
Vettel
Ricciardo

& Merc as WCC's ...close battle for 2nd, but Red Bull just pipping Ferrari

I reckon Hamilton will runaway with it, he will be on a high from winning a 4th and the Mercedes will be the car to beat, Vettel will once again show his fragility.

1. Hamilton
2. Bottas
3. Verstappen

I think Hamilton will walk away with it. Mercedes will want to maintain their domination and will have as good a chassis as anyone with the best engine.

Bottas will be a good number two and Vettel will be undermined by Ferrari.

Redbull may have the car but Max and Danny will steal points off each other.

Renault will have driver problems.

FI will flatter to deceive.

McLaren will be better but not quite good enough.

Williams will be ‘learning’.

TR will bumble along.

Hass and Sauber might turn up occasionally.

Just guessing, of course, hope I’m wrong.......

It's hard to see any team toppling Mercedes' dominance, so the WDC is really just Hamilton's to lose. I think Ferrari, RBR and, hopefully, McLaren will be fighting for the lower step of the podium, and occasionally picking up the pieces when Mercedes have a bad day.

Merc are makingh major changes to their endine for 2018, so its possible there could be reliability issues for the first races
and Ferrari and others may take full advantage of this.

I predict that I'll watch every race, enjoy the season but still will find Le Mans and Dakar more exciting.
Hope to be proved wrong.

Isn't it the last season on free to air TV? If so, it'll be my last F1 season (originally started watching in 1993).

that was fun for looking at how wrong headed people are except for Lewis being top.
A 2019 one is probably best started after the testing in 2019
