Then you have the option of tunnelling into another country via a VPN and watching F1's new on demand service, possibly on mute with BBC radio commentary over the top?
I basically just hear and let my imagination do the rest. More emotion than seeing Stroll and Grosjean fighting for 12th,Welcome to reality, F1 fans. Premium live sport is no longer free, and that isn't going to change.
My favourite sport is cricket, which disappeared from free-to-air TV way back in 2005. Since then, us cricket nuts have had 2 options : pay up, or listen to the radio. I have done both over the years. When I'm paying Mr Murdoch, I'm pissed off because I resent every penny. When I'm not paying, I'm pissed off because I can't watch the test match.

We can all practice withdrawal. Frankly, F1 has been making this option easier with each passing year.
The last few years, perhaps 10 or so, have given us some exciting seasons, some of the best I can remember in fact. The WDC has gone down to the line most times, and battles between teams and inside teams have kept me interested. Were the good old days better? I've been to a race where the winning Williams Honda lapped everyone except the other Williams.
That said, there's an awful lot of room for improvement but we've had some classics over recent years. Final race, last lap, last corner to decide the WDC - could it have got any better?

In TV terms, a number of changes are being contemplated. These were presented to broadcasters as unconfirmed plans at a meeting this week.
among the ideas were:
Really, highlights reel and music in the middle of a live race?among the ideas were:
- making the start time of European races an hour later in the hope of attracting a bigger audience - so a typical start would be 2pm in the UK, rather than 1pm
- races to start at 10-past the hour rather than on it
- Bahrain to become a full night race rather than start at twilight
- improved engine sound from repositioned on-board microphones
- make the cars look faster with different camera angles and static cameras
- playing a soundtrack of music at occasional parts of the race
- a highlights reel to play at regular intervals during the live broadcast
- a potential deal with Netflix for behind-the-scenes footage

another legacy HD pack subscriber, £10 for HD channels includes sky sports F1 HD so no change here
same.I expect Liberty will launch their own highlights streaming channel as the FTA deals come to the end of life around the world. It's pretty clear they understand the new media channels much better than Bernie did and want to maximise that.

Showing a highlights reel when the race settles down after the first set of pitstops sounds like a good plan, as long as there are no major battles going on for podium positions. More & better camera angles are always a good thing.
Music is a terrible idea. We don't want bloody music, unless it is being made by a V10 screaming at 20,000 rpm.

Mind you...that does beg the question as to what one might play.

I am beginning to doubt LM have the balls to do what we all know needs sorting and reduce the advertising space (sorry, aero) effects on the cars and fix the tyres.

Something loud and discordant to wake up the audience?Mind you...that does beg the question as to what one might play.

Really, this is proof, if it were needed, that they haven’t got a solid, worthwhile idea.
It seems they’re set on destroying F1 or at least driving it further into the ground that it’s been sinking into for quite some time.
I never thought I’d say it but maybe Ecclestone wasn’t all bad. Maybe.......
