Correct 2019 onwards.

That's why we are upset and looking at all options.

It's an end of an era for me .. Sunday F1, beer, some racing and I'm not about to pay sky even more that I do already.

I understand this is 2019 onward, but you gentleman might be able to assist...

I am not allowed a sky dish, but enjoy watching every race (qually if possible too), but in the evening, as most Sundays are fundays and I'm not about.

2018 saw me 'obtaining' the races, but some were not available on Sunday or were without commentary etc. Is there a legit way to 'watch again' without recording it on sky? I'd happily pay money for a service, or buy some box to record, but I can't seem to marry up a way to do it all...

Humax and others sell equipement that allow you to record free to air .. but not a good investment if they remove F1 from FTA in a years time though.

Weird, someone said to check the NOWTV deal, but their post has gone...

Anyway, NOWTV say they are not sure, so that means NO!

Could get NOWTV, set it up for the races then use a HDMI recorder to capture it, then play it back. Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hauppauge-HD-PVR-camcorde...

Thanks, but not all races are FTA.

The NowTV pass is for the F1 channel so you could watch any of the race or qualifying repeats they show in the days after the race. Of course this isn't quite as convenient as recording it but you might find it adequate.

I doubt the Hauppage unit will record HDCP protected content.

I think you will find that all the F1 races will be available on torrent sites within 4 or 5 hours of the races finishing.

I don't know why anybody bothers with all that tedious mucking about with torrents when it's available live and free via certain streaming sites. wink

Which isn't a lot of good for those who can't watch it live.

Streaming sites are awful, low quality, ad-filled, and prone to crashing. Unless I'm just not looking hard enough...

Torrents can be as high quality as you like, and let you pause/rewind/fast forward as you want.

Not the same as watching live of course but life gets in the way of that anyway.

There are various apps on both PC and mobile which allow the use of the stream without any of the crap. Some will even give you multiple stream providers for a given event, indexed by quality/resolution, reliability, country etc and will automatically switch to the next best should the one you're using fall over.
As with torrents I wouldn't want to use one without a VPN though...

Does this clause not exist in the current agreement ?

"the Commercial Rights Holder may not permit F1 events to be shown only by pay television in a country with a significant audience if it would materially adversely affect audience reach in that country.”

I know when it went to sky/BBC they got around it, but if it goes pay only, then surely this clause would kick in.

It's been reported that there will be an unspecified highlights package showing on an unspecified FTA channel at an unspecified time after every race. At worst it will be a one hour midweek show like we get for WRC and MotoGP; at best it will be something like we get on C4 now, with extended highlights on the same evening as the race.

I don't think there's any chance Sky will allow the latter option as they need to squeeze as many new viewers as possible on to their subscription platform. We'll be lucky if it's a one hour show like WRC & MotoGP.

I have followed F1 for more years than I care to remember - but I won’t be watching it in 2019.

Yet another sport sold-off to the highest bidder, I guess it started off with cricket.
Boxing was the first major world sport to disappear off into "narrow vision".

Be intersting to see what emerges from the f1 tv . Mrs hairy was reporting last night she had an email offer to watch it for .89p/month which I'm sure can't be right.

Sky are charging me £46.50/month now for tv/f1 HD legacy (no movie or sport) and since getting netflix the only non FTA stuff we really watch is F1 and eurosport and I'm feeling they're taking the p.

I'm aware there are cheaper methods but I like the ability to record and also the continuity of commentary, doing c4 every other race would be a bit weird.

Will it be like motogp.com where the same sub costs x2 if bought from UK what it does on the continent unless you sign up using a proxy? Will you have to watch by proxy if so? (Unlike motogp where once you've signed you're free to watch from anywhere)

Very variable pricing for F1 TV Pro - from €8.99 a month in Belgium to $11.99 a month in the US, or €170.99 a year in Monaco ..

Downgrade to entertainment +HD for £25, maybe more if you play cancellation games and add F1 channel as a standalone with HD for £15 I think.
