The new company smoke has landed and after only 1,500 miles I’m really rather enjoying it! You may have seen my E36 M3 restoration build thread on here
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
so in the meantime, the G30 serves as Weekend transport too. I must say; although obviously very different to the M3, it can be good fun even through the twisties. That straight six Diesel engine is a wonderful unit as well, smooth powerful and with a wedge of torque - it even sounds reasonable. I know there’s a lot of anti-diesel propaganda around at the moment, but i’d encourage anyone to drive one of these if they haven’t. Anyway spec-wise:

530d M Sport (2wd)
Carbon black with ivory white leather
M sport plus package
Driver comfort package
Technology Package (inc. HUD)
Parking assistant plus with 360 degree camera
Heated steering wheel (best thing ever right now)
Power bootlid
Visibility Package (adaptive LED headlights)

Things I like:

Comfort
Performance
Fuel economy
Media system and phone integration that just works
Adaptive LED lights with auto dip
Heated steering wheel
360 degree camera makes parking simple
Overall design of the car inside and out
Interior materials
Reasonable handling for such a large car
Seats 5 people with plenty of space
Fuel economy of 40+ MPG

Things I don’t like:

Pretty much nothing! Seriously it’s that good at what it does. The last generation 5er was a great car but I’ve got to say the G30 has moved the game on. Will report back after she’s got a few more miles under her belt.

Carbon black wink
