Will we ever see something like this again?
Still find it unbelievable.

Crazy situation to be in!

Has the reson for the wheels coming off ever been posted? It looks like someone set off explosive bolts to jettison the front suspension. One wheel isn't unknown, but both at the same time?

IIRC it was later said to be a manufacturing defect from the same batch.
This one was news to me.
Perhaps not the best daring each other and the results.
Notice Villeneuve also has a Buemi style accident in this clip as well as the others.
Can't believe the reaction to what happened by Craig Pollock. Think of the repair and costs.

He has been plenty quick in WEC and Formula E - and whilst I know many dismiss FE as mickey mouse, the standard of opposition is decent and the cars are still hard to drive.
I actually felt sorry for Jaime Alguersuari and Sébastien Buemi not being retained for 2012.They were replaced by Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Éric Vergne.
I actually forgot that Alguersuari had outscored Buemi in the 2011 season which perhaps sealed his fate.
Still think he was a big talent.

Didn't JA get sacked for having a barny with Marko for 'getting in the way' of Vettel in Korea? I'm sure he told the evil one eye'd tt to fk off.
You would have thought Red Bull would have learned putting all their egg's in one basket after Vettel left. Now that egg is Verstappen.
I am sure that was the reason JA got the flick.
Here is the talking too.

Marko has at least been a racer; I think he had a point and JA was naive (and inconsistent). generally best not to argue with such a senior person who has influence on your career. Discuss calmly, sure - argue -nope.Vaud said:

Yes not the best way to keep your seat.Bit the lip and stay calm. You can always lose it later
He was still very at the time. 21 years old.

I am sure Dr Marko speaks very highly of you too , even though you didn't drive in Grands Prix nor win Le Mans.. Or so I assume . A few old pictures to celebrate this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix. The track layout may not have changed much over the years, but the scenery has.

^Nice post!
On the same theme, McLaren shared a nice piece of history about the famous pole lap of Monaco by Senna in 1988.
And the race setup/lap time sheet;
Sadly ends with the note, 'Crashed at Portier'.
Full story here
Saw that a Senna fan had worked out the lap times of Senna & Prost (from the yellow sheet) preceding the moment of the crash over at reddit.
This is very exciting for me because I have never seen this kind of data for cars in the seasons prior to 1996. Made me smile that Senna with over 50 second lead felt the need to wind up the boost and respond to Prost's speed.
It was also very cool to see the tyres going away from both drivers from lap 57. Such a huge degradation! It also makes me wonder if Senna was kind of spooked by the very fast laps Prost put in on lap 55 & 56, that seemed to coincide with unusually slow laps from Senna, as he was perhaps lapping someone and got held up.

Not F1 but the pinnacle of F3 , the' 1 litre screamers ' of the Sixties. In 1966 they raced at Mugello , but not the modern 3 or 4 mile job but the 40 mile (you read right , forty miles!)road circuit. Practice (no 'qualifying' then, let alone 'qually' ) was just the one lap and the race was two laps... Nurburgring ? Pah - girls blouse of a circuit...
