It would be very difficult to make it strong enough. It's integrated right into the chassis and the test weights it has to undergo are massive.
Sky F1 have said a few times it is 10 tonnes or a double decker bus.......... Quite impressive really, but watching the drivers try to get out, if one of those cars catches fire I think we will have serious issues.Jasandjules said:

They still have to be able to get out of the car in a set time, but that set time did increase when the halo was introduced.g3org3y said:

Or, get rid of the halo completely and be done with it.
Is the correct answer.F1 is open cockpit - it is no longer with the Halo. Therefore not F1.
I actually forgot it was on. Sky had taped it automatically.
I'm sure i'm not the only one, but i'm out.

I don't believe pulic opinion has anything to do with it; it's the legal implications that have driven this decision. The halo isn't being implemented in any other class of racing so it won't prevent any future Henry Surtees type incidents. T

I thought it was in Formula 2 this year?I watched both Quali and the Race, I was amused at how fast Brundle commented on the Halo's being terrible especially with the new timing screens they have had to make so now you see even less of the driver.
On board shots now are just 90% toilet seat, track side shots are now much harder to see the driver or know who it is. Cars still sound terrible and although the cars appear to be much more flowing in shape you can't see it due to the ton of carbon fiber draped off it. Ferrari seem to be the worst offender in this.
I honestly can say I won't miss it if it wasn't on.

Off topic, but why isn’t the halo hinged right there. Would make egress/access sooo much easier if they could just flip it forward and slam lock it in place at the rear when needed
