I;m absolutely not a halo fan, but here is a video of my son at Silverstone.

He wasn;t wearing a Hans that day as he had an injured collarbone. When he landed upside down he was able to move his head sideways when the car came to rest. The gravel still wrote off his crash helmet, If he had had a hans device I shudder to think of the consequences...

Not many people can say they’ve head butted silverstone! Silly thing to do.

He was going for the lead at the Walter Hayes Trophy from p2 when the guy in P1 braked really early which caught him out.

He was fine, although there was a spine shaped dent in the fuel tank.

All the body panels went again, only needed a new roll hoop and a couple of wishbones.

But just goes to show how close disaster can be when you are 6'3".

My point is that even with a halo, close escapes (or no escapes) will happen.
