Thanks - interesting reading. I had no idea Mauricio Gugelmin had driven in so many races!!

I don't think Mercedes will have a seat for Russel anytime soon

Post 2020? Hamilton will retire I think. Ocon-Russell?

I would suspect Hamilton wants to make sure he has more WDC than Vettel as he believes he is a better driver, which IMO will be the deciding factor of when he retires.

It wouldn't surprise me if Merc didn't take up the 2020 option in his contract, everything hinges on next season but if it continues like this one then they might start looking elsewhere. Decent driver but not quite decent enough in a good car.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him go to a different team once the Merc advantage wanes. To be WDC in three different teams would overshadow Seb and many other drivers in the history books.

I can't see Vettel winning another WDC as he is making too many mistakes. He was rattled when Danny Ric arrived at Red Bull and doesn't seem to have recovered.

As many WDCs as Fangio, plus 1 more than Prost isn't a bad prize though, for either of them.

I have a feeling that Charles Leclerc will show Vettel up in 2019.

If so then Vettel will be off just like 2014.

2017 and it's looking like 2018 Vettel has had the chance but blown it.

Ferrari will not put up with this IMO.

But will Lewis want to race for Ferrari at some point? It's still got this allure for nearly every driver in F1. If he does he could go to Maranello for a couple of years.

He’s mentioned in interviews a few times this year about life after F1. I think it’ll be end of this current contract in 2020 and retirement.

I think he might hang around to see what the new regs bring. If Merc repeated 2014 (unlikely!) would anyone be able to resist another crack at the WDC?

I can't see HAM at Ferrari. As long as MB has Wolff at the helm, he'll stay there until retirement IMO.

There were some rumours regarding a VET-HAM switcheroo, but this was well before they signed the contracts.

Didn't Wolf hint recently that he might not be too long at the helm though ?

Covered a lot of subjects but the three standouts for me were
1. The reasons he wants to support upcoming talent . (Give them the support he didn’t have - money etc)
2. His relationship with Lewis and what happened after Nico WC.
3. His investment in Williams and now Mercedes F1. He’s F1 first, investment second. I’ve admired him since his Williams days but the way he’s dealt with Merc has been exemplary.

I could try harder to summarise but worth a listen. It’s free and illuminating.

He’s a part owner, he’s invested. It’s not a case of him chucking it in or otherwise. His contract for his current role is immaterial.
