I thought it might be longer, but then 2020 makes it co-terminating with Vettel. Retirement or a last 3 years in Maranello?
Mercedes contract in F1 is only till end of 2020 so makes little sense to offer someone a contract for longer until they sign up which won't be until the new regs are all sorted out.thegreenhell said:
Stroll to FI rumours are getting stronger. It would be a financial blow to Williams if he left, especially as they're also losing Martini at the end of the year, and will not be getting much prize money for their performance this year either.
Interesting potential scenario, that...I think the body language betrays who’s got the power in this relationship
I heard that whilst Tommy Hilfiger knew he didn’t have the skills to really blow up his nascent business in the 80’s to be a mega brand, he still struggles with the fact that Silas Chou and Stroll became ultra rich off his baby when they further sold it on. Strolls yacht alone is worth half Tommy’s fortune!

My guess is that Liberty will loan them whatever they need to survive to 2020. It is not in their interests to lose a team like Williams, and the rest of the grid would probably agree.tigerkoi said:
Stroll - "It's you, I say YOU who will suffer if I take my boy and my money to Force India"tigerkoi said:
Stroll - "So what do have to say about that then?"Lowe - "We won't be spending so much on damage so I say we'll still be up on the deal and I don't think Force India can make spares as fast as we can"

Stroll - ".................................... can we still be friends?"The drivers (for development) are largely irrelevant in this day an age. Given all of Williams experience, assets and one of the best power unit on the grid, you would have a reasonable expectation as an investor/customer that they wouldn't make a fundamental error of an aero stall...

Didn’t Williams prevent a loan going to FI earlier this year?I don’t think they’ll survive to the end of next season.
I had read somewhere that indeed Williams had vetoed a loan going to FI. But I think that was a poor bit of game theory on Williams’ part: hopefully meddle in FI’s survival so that when attention turns to Williams fortunes, they’ll have more leverage for their own loan/support from Liberty or whomever because one team financially struggling is one thing, but two...

Honest question: do you really think Wiliams are in that deep of a hole? I’ve said my piece elsewhere, but interested to know if others think their decline could be precipitous.

I think they will survive because providing they can turn and race they will be allowed to. Sadly they may look like Manor until then.I had read somewhere that indeed Williams had vetoed a loan going to FI. It's about survival to 2021.
