Joe doesn't usually post rumours without substance... https://www.motorsportweek.com/joesaward/id/00289

I would imagine the RBR would promote Gasly if this is true.

Well I certainly didn't see this one coming. RB have confirmed it, off the back of some rumours this morning/yesterday.

Yeah, can't see them taking Sainz on. Maybe McLaren will?

Presumably Sainz would go to Red bull then? I'd thought they'd want to bring Gasly in though if possible. Both good drivers so I doubt either will lose their seat.

Is Vandoorne likely to leave McLaren? Maybe they'll have a space.

I know this doesn't fit with Red Bull's recruitment strategy but id love to see Alonso reunited with the Honda power unit next year

Seb is my tip for the red bull drive.

Red Bull will always promote from within of course.

Sainz to Red Bull seems the most sensible switch - as his option to return is red bull or 'owt.

Won’t Sainz go to McLaren?

Rumour mill is saying Sainz to McLaren to replace Stoffel, assuming that Fred stays. RB's contract elastic on Sainz expires sometime in September.

Again, all rumours and conjecture. But Ricciardo's signing certainly has the potential to mix things up.

Can only see Sainz going to McLaren if they lose Vandoorne and Alonso.

This will either be an inspired Hamilton to Mercedes type move, or Danny Ric has just written off ever being a world champion.

Wow I really thought Ricciardo would stay put once Mercedes and Ferrari options were exhausted

I wonder whether Renault will be able to challenge Red Bull during 2019

Gasly will be a dead cert for Red Bull. Sainz out in the cold unless he can find a drive and Mclaren but that depends what Stoff can do from now until end of season.

If they had any sense Williams should snap Sainz up and pair him Kubica.

What does this mean for Ocon? He was linked with Renault. Will he stay put? With Lawrence Stroll one of the rumored buyers for Force India I can only see that team being Stroll & Perez due to the substantial backing he brings. Surely Mercedes would find him a home, but where? Williams?

I really want to see him back in a competitive car, it's not good for the sport to have him just making up the numbers on the grid.

Don't bet on it. If they take Sainz that means another year for Gasly at Torro Rosso, Sainz would want a multi year deal and I doubt Gasly would be prepared to wait a couple of years before getting a Red Bull drive.

My money is on Gasly to get that Red Bull drive.

I definitely didn't see this one coming. Ricciardo re-signing for RBR seemed like a no-brainer. I can only assume he thought Max would get preferential treatment at Red Bull, and that Renault made him a financial offer he can't refuse.

It's a brave move, and an interesting one. Next year, we will find out how good Hulkenberg really is. My guess is that he will be very close to Ricciardo.

While it may not be good, it's kind of his own fault.
