I wouldn't be surprised if that is why Bob Fearnley left.
Bob was a director of the company, with all the financial issues the company has, his position was untenable in the new organisation.

would merc pay the kind of pay-driver money Williams are after to secure Ocon a seat though?

It'd be great for Williams to have a properly handy driver but how much are we talking?
Free engines?
Haven't Williams been quite anti the idea of B-teams?
They wouldn’t have to be a B team just put a driver in their car for a financial returns let’s face it it’d be still less than what Stroll is bringing but it all helps when they’re in st state

Makes a lot of sense.

Joe Saward says that he walked, rather than was pushed out.

Stroll to FI and Ocon dumped into McLaren.

What a waste of a decent seat and a decent driver.

Reports are Stroll to FI, Ocon to McL, Vandoorne to Sauber, Ericsson out, Kubica in a WIlliams. Daddy moving his entitled boy into his own team will shake things up a lot. What a shame, that some talented drivers will miss out on a good seat (Ocon) because of Ritchie Ritch. I despise the little turd more than ever.

Bit of a pisser for the Hass drivers but I'd like to see whoever gets pushed to refuse the rich bh team open seat. Let team stroll drop down the field on their own.

If Perez indeed moves to Haas, it will be interesting to see who between Magnussen and Grosjean he replaces.

Hello comrade! Nice little communist manifesto you've drafted here, we the working class collective appreciate it.

PS did you forget how the nasty rich bd's dad saved the team and many peoples' jobs? Would you not buy your kid a team if you had enough money (please don't say no because we know that it's a lie)? Don't let the envy step in the way of objectivism is my recommendation.

I’d imagine this will be for next season rather than as part of the potential seat swapping madness at the moment.

Weirdly with all this moving around and Force India having to do a mid season points reset, behind Red Bull is the championship this year a little bit meaningless?

Ericsson out at Sauber being replaced by Vandoorne?!! Nah!

Oh, and as someone else has said. Stroll has saved a Formula team as well as hundreds of jobs. If it wasn’t Lance taking a seat it’d have been Mazepin!

Hahaha! Do you know what objectivism actually is?

I think you mean objectivity but your malapropism does have an ironic significance!

To the point I wouldn’t mind what’s happened if Stroll jr was any good. He isn’t and he’s deposed one of the brighter hopes in F1 who looks doomed to a mediocre future unless Mercedes find him something better than McLaren.

I'm not complaining about the dad saving the team. I'm complaining about his entitled son taking the place of someone more talented. Maybe it's a "necessary evil" and the price to pay for saving the team, but that doesn't mean it's not a shame for the likes of Ocon, who deson't have a rich dad or sponsors.

His dad bought the team only to put his son in the best seat available (and to also make some money obviously!). There would have been no "new FI" if there was no "entitled son" (I don't know how you arrived at the entitled bit, unless you know Lance personally). I can only imagine the ststorm that will unleash if Lance doesn't at least match whoever he replaces. It will be fun to watch. As for Ocon if he disappears from F1 this or next season he will no doubt resurface in the future, if he's really that good.

Ah st, sorry! I've been reading too much of your mate Joe Saward's content recently and this is the result.

If stroll goes to fi this season I'm going to be pissed as they're on my fantasy f1 team, besides isn't he still under contract to Williams? I assume that some sort of financial settlement would need to be agreed by Williams

Sauber owners Longbow are also personal sponsors of Marcus. It would be unusual for Ericsson to be out of a seat there.

Yes I agree there. Ericsson won't be out of a seat just like Sirotkin, Stroll and Perez will all have seats next season. They all bring good sums of money with them.

Stroll more than likely will take Ocon's seat at FI, who will be forced to move to either Williams or McLaren. Rumours would suggest it is more likely the McLaren route, with Vandoorne given the boot and Ocon replacing him, but he has competition from Norris. Similarly, Russell and Kubica are looking like they are both vying for the Williams seat, but Mercedes will surely push Williams to put their man Russell in that seat.

sky were saying he had a seat fitting and doesn't fit in the McLaren - he's too tall, his head sits above the line from rollover hoop/airbox to halo.
