Here's an interesting fact to mull over while watching the procession later on. The F2 pole time this year (1.21.2) was faster than Senna's epic 1988 pole time (1.23.9).

Ricciardo's pole time is 13 seconds quicker than Senna managed.

I love progress.
Hasn't the circuit changed though? It certainly looks like it's a lot 'straighter' if you see what I mean (lower kerbs and more cutting) than before.

Yes, the circuit has changed. Plus there have been enormous changes in aero, semi-auto gearboxes, tyre technology, suspension, and a whole host of other things.

It's not really a fair comparison.

Let's just hope he crashes into the little diva, after 4 years of Merc dominace. I'd like to see a Ferrari wining the WDC.
How very sporting of you Geert.

Apart from the circuit changes, is that not the whole point of the comparison?

If it rains i'm going for Alonso on the podium, I can't back that up with anything though.

Advantage for Verstappen if it rains??

Really.

Will he not just crash quicker.

Joking part will be a great watch to see how he does.

Hamilton is wearing a pink Mercedes hat.

Must mean he is joining Force India in 2019.

Is it me or is Rosberg actually quite good / endearing as a presenter?

Not just you - I really enjoy him on the show. He comes across as a genuine, intelligent chap, entertaining to boot, and says what he thinks with minimal filter.

Quite.

How else should we be comparing?

So much more natural / funnier / drier than when doing the competitive driver thing.

Seems like he might, genuinely, be a bit of a laugh.

No, I've been really surprised by how good/likeable he is whenever he's been on. I also think he'd even better if he was a regular and I really hope Sky can convince him to join permanetly but didn't he leave F1 to spend more time with family, kind of defeats the point if he's goes to all the races anyway, I also somehow doubt he needs the money.

I wonder if a visor similar to auto darkening welders masks would help reduce drivers eye fatigue when exiting the tunnel in Monaco.

I dislike this new F1 start time, it just feels weird.
