Went in 2016, just for the Sunday. We arrived just before 9am and parked pretty quickly, in the circuit by 9.15 at the latest.

We had grandstand tix but didn't use them until just before the F1 race, but frankly it didn't seem too bad wandering around before that. We saw the GP2 from a couple of decent vantage points etc. Of course getting there earlier will help, but certainly it didn't seem nearly as bad as some others' experiences!

Thanks, this sounds encouraging!

Only ever been once to Silverstone for the GP. In 2015. (With 2 free tickets bought for a friend who I went with). A wasted day spent looking at cars through the shoulders and over the heads of people 6 deep. Overpriced food/drink, rubbish everywhere, always queuing for toilets. And, it rained.

A thoroughly miserable day out. Not recommended. And I certainly would never pay for it..

Watching the WRC in Wales is a much better investment.
I actually enjoyed that race. But the highlight of the day was that Typhoon jet. Flew right over our heads at farm curve grandstand and took a vertical path up with it's engines facing down at us. The change of direction was incredible to see in person and the noise, jesus christ..

i was down at Stowe that year - only remember it rained right at the last bit of the race - cos it just started raining at Stowe just as hamilton/rosberg and the williams where coming down hanger straight. hamilton dived for the pits, the others stayed out one more lap... one more lap too many with the rain came... then disappeared for the podium. But the rest of the weekend was lovely and sunny.

Don’t know if youve seen this, i would suggest a very cynical attempt of rinsing even more money from me but it may suit what you are trying to do.

Yeah i saw this thanks, considered it but in the end decided I wouldn't want to be in one spot for 6hrs, I like to walk about, so going to get there about 10am and take my chances.

Also, didnt fancy paying £50 to park and discovered Silverstone schools parking, half the price and the money goes to the schools.

I'm not sure if you can upgrade your GA ticket on the day, may do that though if I can.

We went in 2016 - camped onsite so ready to get there.... I set the alarm for 6 and trogged down to Vale. Mrs rocked up 5 hours later and there were still good places to sit. I can't vouch for offsite traffic but get onsite for 11 and you can (or could) still get a great view.
