The Official 2018 German Grand Prix Thread **SPOILERS**
Discussion
For what my opinion is worth, I don't like like Hockenheim either. It's like looking at a one legged man and pretending not to notice.
What alternatives in Germany are there? I always found the short Nurburging track bland and soul-less. Are there any others? It's a big old country with quite a history in motorsports to have such little choice.

The 'ring is (was) a great event though, we went to the last one in 2013 but if it doesn't stack up for the new private owners it doesn't stack up.
We stayed at Michaela's for it (quite a few on here will know her) and it was perfect but it must have been a nightmare for all the people driving in for the weekend-the traffic was horrendous. The local topography doesn't lend itself to large campsites either I guess.
The track has overtaking opportunities, facilities etc and more than anything, as much history as you like.
I just wish Liberty would take some sort of historical importance into consideration for the championship-where perhaps any country/track that has had 25 or more runnings of a Grand Prix get a discounted rate, more control of advertising etc so that even if they don't want to show a race themselves a promoter can look at it and see the financial rewards.

Hosting fees brought in circa 600 million USD last year, thats around 1/3 of total income for FOM, (and to put that into perspective that is reckoned to be the same amount as Ferraris annual budget).
The constructors took payments of 950 million USD last year from FOM/Liberty.
There are not too many tickets left for Hockenheim (120,000 capacity) and were priced at around 300/500 euro, you can get a 20 game season ticket for Dortmund for 500 euro.
I can't see hosting fees being reduced, races will fall to the wayside.
Are ticket prices at that level sustainable (especially when 4 weeks and a 3/4 hour drive away is SPA)?

Interesting "fun fact", if you compare EU ticket prices with US, US is much cheaper, cheaper than the cheapest EU which is Hungaroring even.I can't see hosting fees being reduced, races will fall to the wayside.

Don't know many who do. There's no comparison to the real thing. So much of driving is feel and sensations all of which are missing. Good for setting up gear ratios and learning new tracks. I always feel like throwing up after 20 minutes in one with any sort of motion.Vettel's track guide/hot lap.

Yawn, you already did, as per your links above, give a qualified answer/example.
Let me get this straight - you want me to show you why by choosing one specific number from one data set consisting of many numbers and comparing it with another number from data set consisting of many numbers (instead of looking at both data sets as a whole and deriving a trend), you're cherry picking numbers? sparta6 said:

I'm thinking RB will be going much better here. Lots of corners for the Best Chassis of the field to flex its muscles.
I'm going for a Red Bull win. Anyone with me?

Top step awaits the fastest RB driver
I paused an attempted overtake by Kimi on one of the Red Bulls at Silverstone, the peak speed difference was 47kph, some of it due to DRS and a slipstream but a LOT of it due to RB's lack of power.
Seb's gotta be super hot favourite, home ground and all, so I'll go with Max for the win

Ooh we've descended into post-race irreverent squabbles before FP1! A new record?
I know, right? This place never ceases to amaze me. I can think of no reason why someone would take an innocent, factual, "fun fact" post that wasn't personal or aimed at anyone and had no agenda and turn it into "Sam reckons we are all off to Austin to watch the GP, much less £$ than baden-wuttemberg". I mean what the actual fkkk? Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
