Petulant ahole yesterday wasn’t he?

And he wants to race in F1?

Err no. A disaster waiting too happen.
Dan Ticktum was one of the reasons behind the super licence requirements
(alomgside Max Verstappen, who although clearly a great talent could have done with another year or two in junior series). F1 doesn’t need hot-headed kids, they cause accidents and injuries.

Thankfully this weekend’s outburst was only words, but Ticktum has a well documented history of following such words with actions.

His team boss needs to make it clear that if he ever wants to drive the car again, he’ll make a formal apology. If he can’t refrain from making direct threats towards other competitors during a session, he shouldn’t be driving anything.

More importantly, what is people choice of nickname for him?

We're alternating between Dan Tantrum and Dan Rectum, however after watching h Smokey and the Bandit we've added Dan Tickturd to the list too

His name is almost an anagram of Dick Tantrum, which seems particularly apposite.

I'm shocked he keeps getting all these opportunities. How much money does he actually bring in? I know nothing of his background or family history.

It's also an anagram of Mutant Dick, while "Daniel Ticktum" can be re-arranged to form "Mad C*nt, Like It!"

Don't know what sort of money he brings but his dad is a major-league property developer. Halcyon, I believe is the company.

Half of me thinks he should be kicked out the sport but the other half thinks he'd be an interesting inclusion. We've not had any bad-boys or bitter rivalries in F1 for a while so if only of the pantomime, could add an interesting dynamic.

Ranting is one thing, enacting from those rants is quite another.

Yes he has previous but he's young, he will still have 'issues' and must find ways to control his emotions.

Too late. He should have been banned for life already.

Agreed if he had done the radio shouting then taken someone out and been banned etc.

But having done the act been banned had a couple of years to think about it, to then go and shout his mouth off is the mark of someone that isn't going to learn/ change.

Lets face it they aren't bumper cars they're seriously quick dangerous open wheel racing cars.

It isn't like the world is short of talent wanting to get into an gp2/ f1 car.

Well let's put it this way, I don't think any of his current funding comes from his mum.

You can't pick your parents to be fair though.

I looked him up to see what age he is , kinda hoping too old and missed the F1 boat seeing as Lando and Max were in F1 barely put of short trousers.

He's only 21 ,so still hoping for the big time .
Hope he doesn't get there though , I don't like bad attitudes.

I don't get why you're all so anti-Ticktum?

Yes he stupidly took a car out at Silverstone after a race and he got banned and fined whatever for it and he's served his ban!

The outburst at Silverstone was quite justified in my opinion....

Matsusta had literally thrown his car at Ticktum expecting him to get out of his way which he did..... Ticktum was quite justifiably angry at that and basically just said that if Matsusta did that 'kamikaze' move again then he'll be having an accident... because Ticktum was not going to move out of his way again. Why should he have to yield to a driver who is driving aggressively in a hope that someone will just get out of his way.

Matsusta knows now that he can't pull that manoeuvre again...

It sounded bad, but wasn't and was taken way out of context due to Ticktums passed antics.

As to why he get's second chances....... he's bloody fast!!

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'd say:

1. He's not looking exceptional by any means.

2. He should have had a lifetime ban for what he did.

3. He comes across as an unlikeable and entitled berk.

There's dozens of other quick drivers on the ladder hoping for a F1 drive who don't have anger issues.

Agreed, he shouldn't have been allowed back in a race car after taking someone out under the safety car. Same for Maldonado who people like to make Memes out of, he should have been banned after injuring the marshall in a World Series By Renault (I think?) race at Monaco when it had been red flagged. Absolute lunatic.

There's been worse and there will be probably me even more outrageous actions to come in the future....

Personally think Santino Ferrucci was just as bad..... hitting Maini after the race on purpose and then being caught with his mobile phone going to the grid the next day and ignoring requests to go to the stewards.... He's running around in Indycar now.

He was in line to win the F3 Euroseries a couple of years back when Schumacher suddenly found what an accelerator was for in the last few races and went from back of the grid to winning all the final races on the trot....

He is quick.... and has proved it this year in GP2.
