took the lead off the start and was unchallenged really, strong race and no-fuel sample bans a shame but the rules the rule really

How often do these cars finish with zero fuel?

you mean as in complete race distance and park up in parc ferme with no fuel? zero practical chance of that happening. if by some miracle it actually did it would be noted as such on entering parc ferme as the race winners are stacked at the front by the weighing platform. if then the car was still over min. weight on the scales, the FIA would investigate thoroughly but likely let the result stand.

I caught the last part of that race. When he stopped the car, it did cross my mind that it could be a tactic to under fuel the car, then don’t drive back to the pits in the hope of have enough left for a sample. But I dismissed it as a cynical idea that probably wouldn’t work, and a professional team wouldn’t try that.

Didn't he get fastest lap right at the end of the race? Perhaps if he'd not gone for that, he wouldn't have run out of fuel.

Would he have finished without the reduced fuel consumption during the VSC?

given the remaining fuel was sat in the monocoque because of a defective tank, im surprised he finished at all.

yet another car issue....add this to the clutch and engine blow ups its pretty poor for a spec series

Quite a strongly worded post on his insta to that effect too. Was copping some flak for 'winning by cheatin' however it does seem that his car did have a fuel leak, very lucky.

all points to a team running things on the cheap, not the car itself. walk down an f3/gp2 pitlane [or any spec series] and the difference preparation between a front running team [which costs, but means they can charge accordingly] and the back of the grid is immediately apparent.

is the ruling online anywhere? i find it more than stingy to ban if there was a legitimate leak. if there was fuel in the monocoque they could've used that.

incorrect.

if you look at what DAMS have said, they are servicing parts more frequently because of the issues, in fact they serviced this tank 3 races ago because all teams are experiencing these issues and trying to get on top of it, and it still failed.

No they wouldn’t. Getting back to the pits or stopping on the track is irrelevant, the scrutineers need to take a sample of fuel (0.8kg, c.1 litre) from the tank for analysis, to confirm it is a legal fuel (standard road fuel super 98 I think) and not some exotic potion for extra power. If they can’t take the fuel sample then the car is disqualified, as was the case with Tictum last weekend. A leaky tank would also fail scrutineering, as it represents a fire risk to have fuel anywhere other than the approved container.

Look for the one after in the paddock when his dad (the circuit owner), does some wrestling moves on the Driver. Unreal...

Some more links here below, and I definitely agree with a lifetime ban for driver and father.
