He's an employee as much as the bloke who changes his left front wheel (other mechanics who change wheels are available). He knows it and it seems to affect his driving.

Ah, so That's why he ran him over in Bahrain!

I thought it was well documented that Kimi needs a car that suits his style of driving and if a car doesn't suit his style of driving he's perhaps not the most amenable to changing his style?

I wouldn't say he's bed blocking a more deserving driver from a decent Ferrari seat with the exception of Ricciardo, but I'm not sure Ferrari would want to pair him with Vettel.

The 'Seb is faster than you' conversation in Germany this year, and the water bottle one in Hungary, were absolute classics. I'm sure he was just on a wind up in both.

Anyway, being paid many millions to be a Ferrari F1 driver, even a number 2, can't be such a bad life. He already has his WDC, and is still Ferrari's most recent champion afterall.

I read somewhere today (can't remember where) that he is likely to be offered a 2 year contract.
Funny I saw it on one of the social media feeds that he had a new 2 year contract.

But everyone is stating it was fake news.

Before Ferrari have not done anything driver wise I think it will happen.

Kimi's last win in F1 was at Lotus in 2013.

He is a works Ferrari driver and has not won a GP in 5 years and not at all with Ferrari since rejoining them.

2009 was his last win in a Ferrari.

Pretty unbelievable that he is still there.

Take this the right way but you seem focused on equal team status. No 1 status worked for Ferrari before, Mercedes are clearly leaning that way (they haven't needed to for most of the current regs) and RedBull too.

As a team if you prioritise WDC over WCC then it is an understandable strategy. The F1 that you seem to a spire to after of 2 equal drivers in great machines doing battle to the last lap of the last race is (a bit of) rose tinted glasses.

Apologies if I have misinterpreted; I do try to follow posters across F1 threads.

bring?

How is he ignorant? He is direct, for sure, and he lacks a general charisma that many countries would warm to. Personally I like him. No BS.

What do we want from F1 personalities - genuine question....?

From the eight races left this season I reckon Kimi will achieve at least another five podiums.

The Kimi seen on camera is a character, he hides behind it because he wants to keep privacy and for the most part it works. There are occasions when you see glimmers of the real man, sometimes on the radio but more commonly when he’s not the centre of attention and is caught laughing and joking like on the British GP drivers parade.

Given how most drivers pander to the attention it’s refreshing

Not to mention getting his chief mechanic to spell out the requirement to let Vettel past. He made them suffer.

Best one for me is when his car is being pushed down the pit lane and he's shouting on the radio for the mechanic to give him his steering wheel.

Nothing will beat his comment on the grid in Brazil 2006 when asked if he had been to Schumacher’s fawning goodbye presentation

“No, I was taking a st”

Legend.

He’s lost a few tenths in recent years and seems more prone to errors but his unconventional style and refusal to pander by kissing arse should be applauded.

Someone who's not a miserable f*ck. Even when he does well he's still a miserable f*ck.

Danny ric? He's as down to earth and as likeable as you can get

Ocon and the hulk are likeable blokes aswell.

He may not kiss arse as such but he still lubes up and practises touching his toes for the big F...

Even if it were true, why would it be a problem? It's not a normal job but it is a job at the end of the day. I'm sure I remember reading about a Premiership footballer who admitted to the same a few years ago.
Remind me how old he is again? He gets paid extremely well for a gig he loves and is a model employee delivering exactly what his paymasters expect. Why the hell would you jack that in?
