I think one or two recent drivers would probably struggle to spell 'car' let alone provide any feedback beyond 'it's not fast enough' or 'it's broken'.

Accelerated driver development and lack of testing really hasn't helped.

Mclaren are the 2nd best team in F1 history so you would think things should work out ok. He trusted them twice.
Trust is an odd word to use given the way it unfolded, especially the first time.

Vettel has been at ferrari for 4 years now since Alonso left and they may not win a title this year or even the next 2 years.
Imagine a situation with Alonso still there on his 10th year of so and no title to show for it.
Alonso would’ve won it last year. Vettel gaffed it. Alonso probably would’ve been in the hunt in 2016.

The Red Bull thing seems like a bit of a trap as they had just signed with the woeful Honda.
The woeful Honda that just placed the Toro Rossos 11th and 12th at Spa, ahead of all Renault powered cars except for Red Bull?

Did Fernando just rip Horner and Marko a new one and call them out (especially Horner) on their never-ending stream of bullste? My hero! I can seriously say I'm going to miss him now.

Although he’ll probably do something much more glamorous and exciting after F1 I’d really like Alonso to be a pundit and replace one of the grey hairs on Sky.
His English is perfect and I think there could be a lot of fun to be had.

The Torro Rosso is a superb chassis so it is Red Bull you need to be comparing against.

A body language expert might have a field day with that section.

Comments below the video suggest that he's lying. So, I guess we'll never find out (although I personally think that he isn't, Horner vs Alonso 0:1)

I suspect the truth is nuanced and between the two stories...

It wouldn't surprise me if a large factor in the difference of opinion over the supposed offers is Flavio, who is still Alonso's manager. It's quite likely that Flavio was the one having the direct talks with RBR, and he could have been economical with the truth when conveying matters to Alonso.

I cannot believe that you are suggesting that Flavio would ever be economic with the truth.

And the truth has a face of certain ex Benetton F1 manager. That could be the correct answer.

Except Red Bull do have the best chassis in F1 whereas McLaren just said they had.

Do they? The Ferrari looks pretty handy on most circuits at the moment. RBs is good, but is it the best?

I think so, the Renault is no slouch of a power unit, but a Ferrari or Merc it is not and yet RB can mix it with them at the non-power circuits.... I reckon with the Ferrari or Merc in the back they'd be pretty much the championship favourites.

Maybe, but they would never get the advantage of the special fuel. But I agree it would be close.

Must be a clear sign he is going to Indycar for 2019.

That takes some ba**s.

Wish he was able to secure a better car in F1. frown

You should open a thread for Kimi as well. Pretty sure that was his last Italian Gp. He looked emotional on the podium which is very unusual. Once gone, I don't think we will hear of Kimi anymore unlike Alonso trying to get all the attention on himself.

I think he is done with F1, and F1 is done with him. Genius driver with prior actions that have deprived him of the seats he coveted.
