Typo, no wonder no one wants him.
He could have just let Macca enjoy a good weekend but he had to diss this also.
We all know it’s a crap car but he doesn’t need to rub it in at every opportunity.
I think when your boss goes on record and openly says it is, then you have free reign...He could have just let Macca enjoy a good weekend but he had to diss this also.
We all know it’s a crap car but he doesn’t need to rub it in at every opportunity.

I am amazed he has been so calm about how poor the McLaren has been since he joined. He could have just let Macca enjoy a good weekend but he had to diss this also.

The guys in the top cars have a hissy fit when they have one bad weekend.

After Mclaren ditching them for renailt, and Fernando slagging them off for the last 2 years it’s hardly a suprise. Rules out a team up with Andretti too...be interesting to see how this situation developscompare to say Danny Ric, who's been far more reserved about his shocking run of failures.

The only reason the car got 7th was Alonso.
That, and the Force Indias taking themselves out, and Haas having a terrible weekend by their standards. Normally that would have been four more cars in front of Alonso. The same reason Vandoorne was 12th instead of 16th.People can slag him off all they want, put him in any car and he will maximise, even exceed, its potential on a very consistent basis.
If it wasn't for him, McLaren would be bottom-two of the Constructors Championship right now.

To be fair, Alonso still finished ahead of both Renaults as well. His race-craft and racing brain is the best on the grid.

I agree. From the current grid, it would be hard to pick who you would want as your lead driver (politics aside) - FA or LH... so many nuances.People can slag him off all they want, put him in any car and he will maximise, even exceed, its potential on a very consistent basis.
If it wasn't for him, McLaren would be bottom-two of the Constructors Championship right now.

Not difficult at all. Lewis has all of Alonso talents, if not more, without the matches and timber bridge
As I said, politics aside. I personally think Lewis is more prone to a downward spiral on a weekend (but untouchable when on form). I think Alonso is more complete when challenged by his car.37chevy said:

Lewis is faster over a single lap, but Alonso is the better all-rounder and has the edge on him in racecraft. He's a 9/10 in every area and has been super consistent in races for several years.Read up on Mattiachi, all this nonsense about burning bridges etc.

Problem is you cant separate out what you call 'politics' which is in fact personality. Alonso is Alsonso, hes got a record of falling out with teams. Hamilton is Hamilton, he can get a bit depressed. If you want to take the 'politics' out of Alonso, then you have to take the ability to have a downward spiral out of lewis.

cant disagree with lewis being faster over a single lap. on what do you base Alonso having better racecraft and a better all rounder? im not saying Alonso isn't an amazing talent, he clearly is, but from where im sitting, Lewis's racing and overtaking skills are outstanding, his ability when to squeeze someone or back out has won him multiple championships, his ability to drive in the wet is unparalleled by any driver in the championship and tyre/ fuel management has been pretty strong too. Read up on Mattiachi, all this nonsense about burning bridges etc.

Too many examples to list, but Spain 2012 stands out is a fine example. His performance in Singapore this weekend wasn't shabby either.
All this nonsense about "nobody wants him" needs to stop - the team he cost multi-millions took him back. He's still adored in Maranello. People need to read up on what really happened at Ferrari it was a combination of poor advice/management and a pi$$-poor team leader at the time.

Better all rounder ? Except in the desirability stakes. No one wants him. That trumps anything good he has to offer.
McLaren and his past teams would disagree on that, considering the results he brings to the table. He's the difference in McLaren being 8th-9th in the Constructors Championship and where they're currently at now - 6th.Edited by TobyTR on Wednesday 19th September 04:40
