I know 25 mins in is a little early to determine anything, but do Mercedes have genuine leading pace here?
As the track beds in with rubber, it should get quicker, but will the rain (predicted tomorrow) wash it away.

Dani ric is doing decent times on the soft (hardest of the 3 this week) just now.

New MGU-H for Kimi, and Max.

Kimi should now have an identical power unit to Seb's.

No penaltys.

Thanks. Was watching the BBC website updates & missed that Red Bull are just 0.4 away but on the harder tyre.
Quicker now.

Better to look at how they go in P2 tbh, when the track will be closer to Quali & Race over the weekend.

Times and Tyres used (Ferrari have used 5/6 out of the 9 sets of hypersofts), perhaps they might save some for tonight ( for as per qualifying conditions).

Not to far off last yrs pole...

VanD last again. I can't help feeling he'll be glad to be out of F1 as much as Alonso.

Has anyone else noticed that Vettle's camera side pod (attached to the right side of the airbox) is about twice the size of the other drivers? It even sticks out further than the halo!

I presume FOM are testing a new camera position?

I'm not sure these new FOM graphics are giving us the correct info. Ferrari have only used two sets of the hypers per car.

They started off with a run doing quali sims, went back and did more sims on a new set after making changes to the car. Came back and did a long run on the same set.

Let see what Merc can do in FP2 on the hypers.

He only did 11 laps and I didn't see him go out in the later part of the session when all the fast times were put in.

FP1 times are largely irrelevant at Singapore; it's a night race and FP1 is run in the day.

It feels like that's the case in every GP.....

I think in free practice they can run additional 'appendages' for data gathering and the like. On a similar note (probably already mentioned here or the Italy GP thread), the dry ice bag on the roll hoop camera was mentioned a while back, and why were Ferrari putting a dry ice bag over it. The conclusion seemed to be to block out the camera from seeing what was going on in the cockpit on the grid, or in the pits. The FIA disliked that and told Ferrari to remove it at Monza, the result...

They've designed something new to cover up the camera for Singapore

Do we think this is a ruse? Or are they genuinely doing something that they need to hide in the cockpit / something that needs cooling around the intake.

With my tinfoil hat securely in place - it does seem rather strange that they seemed to be nowhere in Monza after having to remove their ice packs / camera block....
