Goods news for anyone who uses the F1 live timing app - they've listened to the criticism of the new app and have re-released the old one.

I use https://f1.tfeed.net/

A recommendation from a PHer.

Vastly superior to the 'old' F1 one.

DRS detection 1 moves back to Finish/Control line.

DRS activation 1 now moved back before turn 1.

good that they're playing around with the detection/activation zones to hopefully tailer them to something of a more "possible but challenging" setup, I've often pondered they should just borrow a couple of cars before q1 and use them to help fine tune the drs every race weekend.

Am I alone in thinking that this is easily the worst race on the calendar?

Thankfully, it's the Ryder Cup this weekend.

Sorry, but the worst F1 race is still way more preferable to golf...

For me that's Monaco. Stupid place to hold a race with modern F1 cars.

We have some poor circuits on the calendar. Sochi is towards the bottom of the list. Monaco is not the most exciting circuit for television but anyone who has seen it live will tell you, ad nauseam, how much they enjoyed the atmosphere, so it earns its place for that.

The same with Singapore, which just looks like a boring concrete tunnel under street lights on TV.

At least we have Suzuka to look forward to next weekend. Now that is a proper circuit.

I'll bet that a lot more Sky sports subscribers will be watching their Ryder Cup channel than their F1 channel this weekend. The Ryder cup is golf but not as we know it.

Watch the f1/f2, record the golf and fast forward through the ads (which will be pretty regular), me I’m on now tv at present, so f1 on the big screen Golf on the tablet, thankfully no decent footie overlaps these two..

Indeed. By all accounts as an "event" it's great, but as a "race" it's a joke.

If they are serious about getting it down to 16 races I can nominate a few..

There are conflicting rumours about what Liberty's intentions are. One says reduce it to 16, another says increase it to 24.

Monaco can be a very boring race.

But when the rain comes down it can be one of the best.

I am all for fewer races on the calendar

However I daren't hope for it to happen because you can bet your life all of the wrong races will be canned

F1 heartland races in France, Belgium, Britain, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Japan etc teeter on the edge

Malaysia recently gone, which was actually a well-liked circuit with an unpredictable climate

True borefests Russia and Abu Dhabi remain, We have three true street circuits on the calendar which are very hit & miss (generally miss)

The new venues which are being mooted are all city street circuits which are little different to the ones we already have only without the slightest bit of historical significance or heritage...

Agreed but the same can be said of any of the current tracks. I would happily get rid of Monaco, Melbourne, and Barcelona.

Monaco will never be dropped.

But I agree that Melbourne and Barcelona should be on the list of being replaced.

I would add Hungarian, Singapore, Russian and French as well.

But IMO Silverstone is a shadow of itself.

Many tracks have been ruined over the years.
