I thought the track limits said you had to have one wheel inside the white line. It looks quite possible to be within the track limits by that definition and still hit that bump. Not that that's really a problem as long as the drivers know it's there any more than a wall which you can hit without leaving the track is.

Track designer gives an Astro run off, FIA put in a speed bump, though track limits were the white painted line.
And this is why it's neededCan’t remember what the ride heights are on these cars but the bumps are circa 50mm high.. at 270kph they’ll be airborne..

Me too, these have been placed all over the track including the exit of turn one, where almost everyone goes wide on lap one.thegreenhell said:
So what do you suggest instead? Do they just stand there in silence, or should they be allowed to choose their own theme song?
Surely they can follow Lewis/XNDA's lead and bust out some sick bars? There's your podium and post-race concert sorted in one go.Kimi could be particularly entertaining as a rapper

66% chance of rain on Saturday and 58% Sunday, could get interesting...
widespread flooding in Texas, including Austin county looks bad: https://youtu.be/cWlrWETj2DQDeesee said:
Excessive to me, the 5 second time penalty max got was more in line of the crime of exceeding track limits & overtaking.

& personally I agree remove the Astro put grass in or bigger/abrasive curbs, temporary measures are not the answer, I fear we will see someone wheel to wheel at high speed and some one ‘closes the door’ to put someone into one of these.

I've been to a few motor races where there's no music played at the presentation. I didn't miss it. It's an anachronism. Way back, it was a way to push nationalistic tendencies. It seems a shame we haven't move on. Derek Smith said:

What if these anthems were to be sung by a half Jewish half Catholic transgender binary gay person from who identifies as British muslim? Would that be progressive enough to tickle your taste buds?
Thanks you for your insightful commentary on the matter.Bullitt Five-Oh said:

We should actually be hearing the Monaco national anthem for most drivers anyway

Do you understand the concept of a deterrent? If the drivers know that these things are there and they will cause a painful/damaging airborne moment then they should be able to avoid running off track so far.

A deterrent will only work for somebody who is deliberately trying to cut the corner, if somebody is squeezed out in a racing incident, or there's a crash where one car locks-up under breaking, that deterrent become a hazard.Personally I'd rather they got rid of all this smooth tarmac runoff, so the temptation to continually run wide onto it is removed completely.
I do agree on the removal of the run-off on the inside of this corner though.
