Compare RBR to Renault, STR, McLaren. No, no difference at all... smile
The RBR Renault has been very successful over the years; remarkably so. The hybrid era has cost it top slot but it has been there or thereabouts most of the time.

All cars are compromises, for which we should feel relieved. There’s no perfect set up.

Merc seems to trash its tyres, and not only because it has oodles of power. Ferrari seems to be almost there at almost all circuits. RB managed their tyres, are good at circuits where top speed is not decisive, or where the air pressure is lower. The rumour, which seems to have a lot supporting it, is that Newey has gone for aero over everything and, despite the benefits such as tyre life, this has given rise to problems with the Renault installation.

RBR has lots of money but it has been unable to overcome the problem.

The Honda engine will include compromises in the package. It must do. The RBR testing team has struggled to keep the engine in one piece. RBR will demand more from it.

Red Bull is committing massive amounts of money to the team. One wonders if they are seeing a return at the moment. If the Honda engine is as problematical in the new car, I doubt there will be any doubt.

RBR will not, I think, put up with poor performance in the same way McLaren and Williams have done. RBR must have a successful 2019. I can’t see them waiting for the 2021 changes to give them a lifeline.

There’s every chance of the top three teams being reduced to just the two next season. Merc will have just the one driver. In all probability so will Ferrari, we just don’t know which one at the moment.

Newey has not been quite so committed over the last couple of seasons, doing other stuff at times. I can see him saying he won’t be bothering with 2021. If so, they’ve lost their biggest asset, their only edge.

2019 will be an interesting season. I wonder if it will be as exciting as this one. I’ve got my doubts. 2018 has been a brilliant season for the fans: thrills, spills and close (too much so sometimes) racing. Next season will have its work cut out to match it. Think the new RBR will also have its work cut out to match its 2018 performance.

Great video here from sky italia

Showing the outwash of current air displacement to an 2019 predicted inwash of air movement.

(Yes it looks like they are going to make that racing closer by basing the aero from the 2009/2010 McLaren)!

I like the change to permanent driver numbers but I do think the World Champion should use no. 1

Commentary on C4 said that he didn't feel comfortable with it being on the car in FP1, so he's gone back to 44 because thats his number and 1 didn't feel right..

Only just switched on the TV, what was that all about if it doesn’t need a lengthy reply?

Has Crofty got an agenda to ps off Guenther Steiner every time they have one of those commentary-to-pit radio conversations?

I wonder how long it will be before Steiner refuses to take part any longer.

Thanks! It’s sometimes difficult to work out how Toto is feeling as he keeps his card to his chest, but I did detect some irritation there smile

Horner hinted that Ocon had crahed deiberately under instructions from Merc. It was a bit of insinuendo that was beneath most managers but not Horner.

I'm not sure if Horner is like Ecclestone and likes winding people up, or whether he is just genuinely a dick. Or both.
