Maybe as much to do with the RB chassis as the engine? Given that in 5 years no one else has won with that engine?
Would it not also be true to say that only Mercedes have won with a Mercedes engine and only Ferrari have won with a Ferrari engine too? From what I can remember only those three teams have actually won races in the hybrid era?

Unless I've forgotten something (which is quite possible) the last person to win in anything other than those three teams was Kimi in a Lotus in the first race of 2013?

That old renault/tag bag of bolts not to bad eh! (plus the races that the RBR drivers have self destructed on).

To be fair only Merc, Ferrari & RBR have won (non of the customer teams with Merc/Ferrari units) the RBR chassis is clearly class, however 3 of the top 6 in the WCC this year are Renault powered, and they are not too far away from Ferrari on outright wins, with Ferrari having a very strong car in the last 2 yrs.

Even this yr it’s 6 to 4 for Ferrari (which was the hot favourite to win), and that’s also with red bull taking 200+ grid place penalty’s (not all necessarily for Renault derived PU problems).

This is why rbr are confident in Honda, they can see the performance is there, they know which tracks they’re strong in and will play to those and take penalties where needed.

Mark my words, red bull will win races next year

Possibly, but I bet they have more engine failures than race wins.

It can't be per the rules:

"The reigning Formula One World Drivers' Champion can elect to use their allocated permanent number or car number 1 during the year following their title."

1 is only on the nose. Still 44 on the rear bodywork, apparently. I wouldn't be surprised if this was just for FP, and he'll revert to 44 for Q and the race.

Doesn't say they can't use both in the same year.

"Lewis Hamilton has a number one on his car this weekend, but it's an addition rather than a change. The world champion is entitled to carry the number one the following season as a reference to his status, but Hamilton has always chosen to stay with his number 44.

Mercedes say: "It is car 44 on the entry list and timing screens and races under this number - the number is still present on the engine cover. But Lewis has requested and been given permission to run the number 1 on the nose at this final race of the season because he’s world champion."

I did.

Though he isn't running as number 1, he is still 44.

Some quite interesting repartee between the one ex-McL driver and the one soon to be an ex McL driver.

Ocon seems to have put the incident behind him more than Verstappen has.

Indeed. Entertaining body language to be seen there. Hope Ocon is back in something competitive soon, that relationship has so much more to give.

I think Redbull may be the team to watch next year.. A stronger than average chance of a title win...

Claire Williams confirmed this. Focus on his right hand on the steering wheel and so doubt as to what happens in an emergency.
I feel sure Williams will have put him through every possible scenario before offering him this seat

Because they can't use both numbers in the same year. The no.1 on Lewis's nosecone is just marketing, he is racing as no. 44.
